It can be taken with or without food, but it is better to take Gibtulio 10mg tablet at a fixed time.
Taking empagliflozin with alcohol may affect blood glucose levels in patients with diabetes.

Gibtulio 10mg tablet is used to lower blood sugar levels in adults with type 2 diabetes who have failed to achieve control by diet and exercise alone.

How it works

Gibtulio 10mg tablet belongs to a class of drugs called sodium-glucose co-transporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitors. Gibtulio 10mg tablet acts by blocking the action of  SGLT2 which causes kidneys to clear more glucose in the urine, thereby lowering blood sugar levels in the blood

  • Continue to follow the diet and exercise program recommended by your doctor.
  • Inform your doctor, if you have a history of or are suffering from kidney problems, low or high blood pressure, or high cholesterol.
  • Exercise caution if you are an elderly patient.
  • Keep yourself hydrated, especially during hot weather or while you are being active as dehydration may increase the risk of empagliflozin's side effects.
  • Inform your doctor if you develop urinary tract infections or problems with urination.
  • You will be regularly monitored for cholesterol levels, kidney function, fasting blood glucose, and hemoglobin A1c while taking empagliflozin.
  • Seek immediate medical attention if you experience nausea, vomiting, shortness of breath, sweating and weakness or any such symptoms indicative of hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) while on empagliflozin.
  • Do not drive or operate machinery during empagliflozin therapy as it may cause drowsiness.
  • Do not consume alcohol when on treatment with empagliflozin, as it may worsen its side effects.
  • Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant or are breastfeeding.
  • Do not take if allergic to empagliflozin or any of its ingredients.
  • Do not take if suffering from type 1 diabetes.
  • Do not take with diabetic ketoacidosis (high blood or urine ketone levels).
  • Do not take if below 18 years of age.
