AMIT 10 MG TABLET

Overview

Introduction of Amit Tablet

AMIT 10 MG TABLET is a prescription medicine used in the treatment of depression and neuropathic pain. It is used in patients who are intolerant of or unresponsive to alternative treatment options for depression.

AMIT 10 MG TABLET works by increasing the level of chemical messengers in the brain that help in regulating mood and stops the movement of pain signals from nerves to the brain. It can also be used to treat tension headache and migraine. It is taken by mouth with or without food. Take it at a fixed time each day to maintain consistent level of medicine in the blood. In case you have missed a dose, take it as soon as you remember it. Never skip any doses and finish full course of treatment even if you feel better. It is important that this medication is not stopped suddenly without talking to doctor as it may worsen your symptoms. Remember regular monitoring of blood sugar is important as this medicine may elevate or reduce your sugar levels. Some common side effects of this medicine includes dryness in mouth, blurred vision, increased heart rate and constipation. Initially, this medicine may cause sudden drop in the blood pressure when you change positions, so it is better to rise slowly if you have been sitting or lying down. It even causes dizziness and sleepiness, so do not drive or do anything that requires mental focus until you know how this medicine affects you. This medicine may cause weight gain and to control it, you should have a balanced diet and exercise regularly. Remember to inform doctor if you develop any unusual changes in mood as it may lead to suicidal thoughts.

Dr. Jyoti Kapoor Madan

Sleep problems are often caused by underlying physical and/ or psychological cause. This requires examination of the patient so that proper treatment can be initiated. Often stress/ anxiety/ depression or mood disorder needs to be dealt with and sleeping pills are not adequate treatment. Nexito is an antidepressant and a good one. Treatment of depression and anxiety includes adequate dose of Medi and psychotherapy so the focus needs to be on exploring mood symptoms and not just helping with sleep.
