Tranylcypromine is used in the treatment of depression.
How Tranylcypromine works
Tranylcypromine is an antidepressant. Low levels of monoamines (chemical messenger) in the brain cause depression. Tranylcypromine increases the amount of monoamines by decreasing the activity of the enzyme (monoamine oxidase) that inhibits monoamines. This how it works to treat depression.

Sedation, Feeling over excited, Blurred vision, Tremors, Headache, Dizziness, Insomnia (difficulty in sleeping), Constipation, Dryness in mouth
