Product introduction

Pregmain Tablet can be taken with or without food, but take it at the same time to get the most benefit. It should be taken as your doctor's advice. The dose and how often you take it depends on what you are taking it for. Your doctor will decide how much you need to improve your symptoms. Swallow the tablets whole with a glass of water. You should take this medicine for as long as it is prescribed for you. Do not miss even a single dose, if in any case, you missed dose, take it as soon as you remember or better to skip the missed dose and continue with regular dosing.

The most common side effects of this medicine include edema (swelling), bloating, headache, depression,  fatigue, altered libido, irregular menstrual cycle, gastrointestinal disturbances, and excessive hair growth.  If these bother you or appear serious, let your doctor know. There may be ways of reducing or preventing them.

Before taking this medicine, let your doctor know if you have ever had undiagnosed vaginal bleeding, or incomplete abortion, or have heart disease or kidney problems. Your doctor should also know about all other medicines you are taking as many of these may make this medicine less effective or change the way it works.

Treatment of Recurrent miscarriage
Pregmain Tablet helps to prevent miscarriage in such women who have had such complications in an earlier pregnancy. It improves the thickness of the lining of the uterus (womb) and also attachment of the baby to the uterus. This makes sure that there are no abnormal contractions of the uterus which may lead to premature delivery.
Treatment of Premature Labor
Pregmain Tablet prevents abnormal contractions of uterus muscles and relaxes them. It widens blood vessels to help increase blood flow and improve circulation to the smooth muscles of the uterus. This prevents premature labor and miscarriage. Take it as prescribed and follow your doctor’s instructions carefully to get maximum benefit.

How Pregmain Tablet works

Pregmain Tablet is a progestin (female hormone). It helps in maintaining pregnancy by promoting the attachment of the embryo to lining of the womb and improving blood flow to the placenta. It also relaxes the uterus muscles thereby preventing premature labour.

Interaction with drugs

Taking Pregmain with any of the following medicines can modify the effect of either of them and cause some undesirable side effects

Tamoxifen (Oral Route)

Do not consume Tamoxifen with Allylestrenol if you have or had breast cancer. If essential, consult your doctor. Allylestrenol may reduce the efficacy of Tamoxifen.

Letrozole (Oral Route)

Do not consume Letrozole with Allylestrenol if you have or had breast cancer. If essential, consult your doctor.

Anastrozole (Oral Route)

Do not consume Anastrozole with Allylestrenol if you have or had breast cancer. If essential, consult your doctor. Allylestrenol may reduce the efficacy of Anastrozole.

Raloxifene (Oral Route)

Do not consume Raloxifene with Allylestrenol. If concurrent use is essential, please consult your doctor. Allylestrenol may reduce the efficacy of Raloxifene.

Rifampicin (Injection Route)

Use other methods of contraception (IUDs, depot or barrier methods) both during and for 28 days following the discontinuation of Rifampicin. Rifampicin may reduce the efficacy of Allylestrenol.
