Dotin 25mg Tablet is a tricyclic antidepressant. It is mostly used to treat depression that is unresponsive to alternative treatment. It is also used in the management of anxiety disorders. It works by increasing the levels of chemical messengers in the brain that help in regulating the mood.

Dotin 25mg Tablet works by increasing the levels of chemical messengers in the brain that stabilize and improve the mood. It is better to take it before bedtime because it can make you feel drowsy. It can be taken with or without food, but you should take it at a fixed time each day for better efficacy. The dose and duration will be decided by your doctor so that you get the right amount to control your symptoms. Do not skip any dose and finish the full course of treatment even if you feel better. This medication must not be stopped suddenly without talking to the doctor. Your dose may be modified or gradually decreased before stopping the medication.

The most common side effects of Dotin 25mg Tablet include increased heart rate, blurred vision, dryness in the mouth, and constipation. Initially, this medicine may also cause a sudden drop in blood pressure, especially when you change positions. It may even cause dizziness and sleepiness, so do not drive or do anything that requires mental focus until you know how this medicine affects you. It may also lead to weight gain in some people. What if you forget to take Dotin Tablet?

If you miss a dose of Dotin 25mg Tablet, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

Is Dotin 25mg Tablet a muscle relaxant?

No. Dotin 25mg Tablet is not a muscle relaxant. It is a tricyclic antidepressant (TCA) used in the treatment of depression, nerve pain, and anxiety disorder.

How to stop Dotin 25mg Tablet?

If your doctor asks you to stop Dotin 25mg Tablet, you should reduce the dose slowly over 4 weeks. You should not discontinue it abruptly. Sudden discontinuation may cause aggression, anxiety, blurred vision, concentration impairment, constipation and crying spells.

Is overdosing on Dotin 25mg Tablet be fatal?

Yes. Dotin 25mg Tablet can be fatal (can cause death) in overdose. This is due to a life-threatening or dangerous side effect in overdose like hyperthermia, seizure, arrhythmia, tachycardia, orthostatic hypotension or sudden death. That's why it is generally not considered a first-line option for depression because of side effect profile.

Can I take Dotin 25mg Tablet with diazepam?

It is better to avoid this combination. Diazepam is a sedative drug and Dotin 25mg Tablet may cause sedation as a side effect too. Taking both of them together can increase drowsiness or sleepiness. Inform your doctor if you are taking diazepam.

Can Dotin 25mg Tablet be used to treat insomnia with depression?

Yes. Dotin 25mg Tablet may be used for the treatment of insomnia (too much arousal both at night and during the day) associated with depression. Because it can cause drowsiness or sedation as side effects, it is effective in treating insomnia associated with depression.
