Comantrel-T Tablet helps in improving muscle control and reducing stiffness by affecting specific brain chemicals. Take Comantrel-T Tablet as prescribed by your doctor, with or without food, preferably at the same time each day, to maintain a steady level of the medicine in your body. It can also be used to treat drug-induced movement disorders.


Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. If you have missed a dose, take it as soon as you remember it. You should finish the full course of treatment even if you feel better. This medication must not be stopped suddenly without talking to your doctor.


Some common side effects of Comantrel-T Tablet include nausea, dizziness, and insomnia (difficulty sleeping). If you experience dizziness, rise slowly and do not drive or do anything that requires mental focus until you know how this medicine affects you.

Interaction with drugs

Taking Comantrel with any of the following medicines can modify the effect of either of them and cause some undesirable side effects

Memantine (Oral Route)

Do not consume Memantine with Amantadine. If concurrent use is essential, your doctor may monitor your treatment and adjust the doses as per the observations.

Bupropion (Oral Route)

Careful consideration is advised when taking Bupropion with Amantadine. If concurrent use is essential, watch out for symptoms such as shortness of breath, headache, nausea or blurred vision and consult your doctor if you experience them.

Amisulpride (Oral Route)

If concurrent use is essential, watch out for symptoms such as constipation, confusion or psychosis and consult your doctor if you experience them. They may monitor your treatment and adjust the doses as per the observations. Amantadine may reduce efficacy of Amisulpride.

The use of Comantrel-T Tablet may cause impulse control disorders in which you may have strong urges to gamble, increased sexual urges, intense urges to spend money, binge eating, and other intense urges. Additionally, there is the inability to control these urges. If such symptoms are experienced, then dose reduction or tapered discontinuation should be considered.

Do not stop taking this medicine or lower the dose without first checking with your doctor. If required, your doctor will gradually reduce the amount you take each day before stopping it completely. Abruptly stopping Comantrel-T Tablet may result in worsening of Parkinsonism. It may also cause delirium, agitation, delusions, hallucinations, paranoid reactions, stupor, anxiety, depression, or slurred speech.
A decrease in weight and body mass index may occur with continued Comantrel-T Tablet usage. If you have any concerns regarding weight loss, consult your doctor or a nutritionist.
