Atomoxet 25mg Tablet may be taken with or without food. It is advised to take this medicine at a fixed time each day to maintain a consistent level in the blood. If you miss any doses, take it as soon as you remember. Do not skip any doses and finish the full course of treatment even if you feel better. This medication mustn't be stopped suddenly as it may worsen your symptoms.

Some common side effects of this medicine include headache, nausea, vomiting, decreased appetite, abdominal pain, increased heart rate, and high blood pressure. However, these side effects are temporary and usually resolve on their own in some time. Please consult your doctor if these do not subside or bother you. This medicine causes dizziness and sleepiness, so do not drive or do anything that requires mental focus until you know how this medicine affects you.

Before taking Atomoxet 25mg Tablet, inform your doctor if you have any problems with your kidneys, heart, liver, or have a history of seizures (epilepsy or fits). Inform your doctor if you develop any unusual changes in mood or behavior, new or worsening depression, or if you have any suicidal thoughts. This medicine may increase your blood pressure, so it is better to monitor it regularly and consult your doctor if it is bothersome.

Driving

Atomoxet 25mg Tablet may decrease alertness, affect your vision, or make you feel sleepy and dizzy. Do not drive if these symptoms occur.

Kidney

SAFE IF PRESCRIBED

Atomoxet 25mg Tablet is safe to use in patients with kidney disease. No dose adjustment is recommended.

Liver

CAUTION

Atomoxet 25mg Tablet should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Dose adjustment may be needed.

Interaction with drugs

Taking Atomoxet with any of the following medicines can modify the effect of either of them and cause some undesirable side effects

Domperidone (Oral Route)

Do not consume Domperidone with Atomoxetine.

Life-threatening

Tranylcypromine (Oral Route)

Do not consume Tranylcypromine with Atomoxetine. If Tranylcypromine is essential, ensure a gap of at least 2 weeks after discontinuing Atomoxetine. Please consult your doctor.

Severe

Thioridazine (Oral Route)

Factors such as old age, chronic heart issues, or low potassium levels may more frequently cause disturbance in heart rhythm, and your doctor may consider ECG monitoring in their presence.

Amiodarone (Oral Route)

Factors such as old age, chronic heart issues, or low potassium levels may more frequently cause disturbance in heart rhythm, and your doctor may consider ECG monitoring in their presence.

In general, you can expect to see a positive change during the first month of taking Atomoxet 25mg Tablet. After the first month of taking the medication, your dose might be raised if you are not benefitting enough from it.

Nausea is a common side-effect of this medicine. Eat smaller, more frequent meals to reduce the feeling of nausea. Also, avoid food that is salty, spicy, fried, or fatty.

Avoid taking any other anti-depressant along with Atomoxet 25mg Tablet without consulting your doctor. This is because the combination may cause side-effects like shaking (tremor), shivering, muscle stiffness, fever, rapid pulse, rapid breathing or confusion.

Can I give Atomoxet 25mg Tablet to my 3-year-old child?

No Atomoxet 25mg Tablet should only be used in children 6 years and older.

When to take Atomoxet 25mg Tablet?

This medicine is usually taken one or two times a day (early morning and late afternoon/early evening). If you find that you are sleepy during the day talk to your doctor about the best time to take your medicine.
