Zaso 5mg Capsule

Overview

Introduction

Zaso 5mg Capsule is a prescription medicine used to treat insomnia. It reduces sleep onset time and frequent awakening at night. This medicine improves sleep maintenance and therefore ensures sound sleep.

Zaso 5mg Capsule should be taken on an empty stomach, preferably before going to bed. However, it is advised to take it at the same time each day as this helps to maintain a consistent level of medicine in the body. Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor as it is habit forming. Do not stop taking it suddenly without talking to your doctor as it may worsen your symptoms.

Some common side effects of this medicine include lightheadedness, impaired coordination, and tingling sensation. However, these are temporary and resolve on their own after some time. It also causes dizziness and sleepiness, so do not drive or do anything that requires mental focus until you know how this medicine affects you and do not take alcohol with it as it may worsen the dizziness. Inform your doctor if you develop any unusual changes in mood or behavior, new or worsening depression, hallucinations or suicidal thoughts while taking this medicine.

Before taking Zaso 5mg Capsule, inform your doctor about all other medicines that you are taking, so that your doctor can advise if taking this medicine is right for you. Consult your doctor before taking this medicine if you are suffering from any liver or kidney problems. You should avoid smoking and alcohol while using this medicine. Pregnant and breastfeeding mothers should not use this medicine. However, if the need arises, please consult your doctor before using it.

Common side effects of Zaso

  • Dizziness
  • Lightheadedness
  • Impaired coordination
  • Paresthesia (tingling or pricking sensation)

How to cope with side effects?

The occurrence of side effects varies from person to person. The following are a few ways of dealing with some of the common side effects. However, consult your doctor if these persist.

  • Coping with Dizziness
This is usually short-lived and should go away within a few days. If this happens, stop what you are doing and sit or lie down until you feel better. Lying still in a dark, quiet room may help reduce the spinning feeling. Sleep with your head slightly raised on two or more pillows. Get up slowly from a lying or sitting position. Get plenty of rest and try to relax as being anxious can make it worse. Try taking this medicine at bedtime to reduce the symptoms. Drinking plenty of water and ginger tea may also help. Avoid alcohol, caffeine and smoking as it will make you feel worse. Avoid driving or using tools or machinery until you feel better.

  • Coping with Impaired coordination
If you feel unsteady, stop what you are doing and sit or lie down until you feel better. Try getting up very slowly from a sitting or lying position. If your condition does not improve, talk with your doctor about changing the dose or trying an alternative medicine.
  • Coping with Paresthesia (tingling or pricking sensation)
Massaging the numb area can help improve blood flow and provide relief. Try warming your hands and feet if they are cold. In case they are hot, try cooling them down. Get plenty of rest as lack of proper sleep may worsen the condition. Reducing stress, avoiding alcohol, exercising regularly, and getting enough vitamins and nutrients through your diet can also make you feel better.
