Introduction of Vogs Tablet

Vogs 0.3 Tablet is a medicine used in the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus. It should be taken just before meals as it lowers the post-meal blood sugar levels. This prevents the long-term complications of diabetes mellitus. Use of Vogs 0.3 Tablet along with a proper diet and exercise results in better blood sugar control. Initially, it may cause side effects such as stomach pain, bloating, and gas, but these get better with time.

How to use Vogs Tablet

How Vogs Tablet works

Vogs 0.3 Tablet is an anti-diabetic medication. It inhibits an enzyme that helps in conversion of carbohydrates to glucose. This slows down carbohydrate digestion/absorption thereby preventing increase in blood glucose after meals.

Alcohol
CAUTION
It is unsafe to consume alcohol with Vogs 0.3 Tablet. Taking Voglibose with alcohol reduce the blood sugar levels in diabetic patients.
Pregnancy
PROBABLY SAFE
Vogs 0.3 Tablet is probably safe to use during pregnancy.
Animal studies have shown low or no adverse effect on the fetus, however, there are limited human studies. Please consult your doctor.
Lactation
Vogs 0.3 Tablet is probably safe to use during lactation. Limited human data suggests that the drug does not represent a significant risk to the baby.
Driving
SAFE
Vogs 0.3 Tablet does not usually affect your ability to drive.
Kidney
Vogs 0.3 Tablet should be used with caution in patients with severe kidney disease. Dose adjustment of Vogs 0.3 Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor.
Liver
There is limited information available on the use of Vogs 0.3 Tablet in patients with liver disease. Please consult your doctor.

What if you miss a dose of Vogs Tablet?

If you miss a dose of Vogs 0.3 Tablet, skip it and continue with your normal schedule. Do not double the dose.

Since 3 years I have Type 2 Diabetes and am presently on 1 tab. of glynase MF .My fasting is 130 and PP goes up to 170-180. I want to lower it further. I have been advised to take 1 tab. of voglibose 0.3 with lunch.Iam unable to walk more than 1 k.m. due to osteoarthritis but I am cycling daily for one hour to compensate. What do I do to control B-G level more effectively?

Q. Does Vogs cause weight loss?

There is evidence that normal doses of Vogs does not cause significant weight loss. However, very high doses of this medicine can affect the absorption of food, thereby causing weight loss. Do not take this medication for weight loss as it is not approved for treatment of obesity. Do consult your doctor before starting this medication.

Q. How should you take Vogs?

Vogs is usually prescribed to be taken orally three times daily immediately before each meal. Vogs may be given along with a controlled diet. However, in case Vogs does not work alone, it may be given along with a proper diet and other antidiabetic medicines. Your doctor may further increase your doses if the given doses do not provide sufficient control over the blood sugar levels. Do not take this medication by yourself and consult your doctor before starting this medication.

Vogs has been found to be effective and well-tolerated in most patients with Type 2 diabetes mellitus.

Q. Does Vogs cause hypoglycemia?

No, unlike other oral antidiabetic medications or insulin, Vogs tablets do not result in hypoglycemia. Moreover, it has been seen that taking Vogs before the evening meal decreases the chances of night time hypoglycemia in diabetic patients taking insulin therapy.

Q. Why is Vogs used?

Vogs is a medicine used to control the blood sugar levels in patients with Type 2 diabetes. It decreases postprandial or postmeal rise in the levels of blood sugar by slowing down the digestion and conversion of complex carbohydrates (like starch) into simple sugars (monosaccharides). Thereby, decreasing the absorption of sugar from the intestine. This decreased absorption of sugar leads to decrease in blood sugar levels in patients with diabetes. This medication can also be used in patients who have prediabetes and are prone to develop diabetes in the future.
