Introduction of Trifeno Capsule

Trifeno 200 mg Capsule is a medicine used to treat high cholesterol. This medicine helps by lowering triglycerides and "bad" cholesterol (LDL), while at the same time raising the levels of "good" cholesterol (HDL). Lowering cholesterol levels reduces the risk of heart attack and stroke. This medicine should be taken with food. It may be used alone or in combination with other medicines. Do not stop this medicine without consulting your doctor. Lifestyle changes like low-fat diet, regular exercise, and smoking cessation may help this medicine to work better. Nausea, flatulence, abdominal pain, and diarrhea may be seen as side effects with this medicine.

Trifeno 200 mg Capsule is probably unsafe to use during lactation. Limited human data suggest that the drug could represent a significant risk to the baby.

Liver

What if you miss a dose of Trifeno Capsule?

If you miss a dose of Trifeno 200 mg Capsule, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

Q. Is Trifeno the same as Lipitor?

No, Trifeno is a drug belonging to a different class of drugs called “Fibrates”, whereas Lipitor (atorvastatin) belongs to the “Statin” class. Both the medicines act by different mechanisms

Q. Can the use of Trifeno cause liver damage?

Trifeno contains Fenofibrate. A very rare side effect of this medicine is liver damage i.e 1 in 10000 patient. Use of this medicine should be avoided in patients with the underlying liver disease. Contact your doctor immediately If you notice any early signs and symptoms of liver damage such as fever, rash, loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting, fatigue, stomach pain, dark urine, yellow skin or eyes.
