परिचय

Topamed 25mg Tablet may be taken with or without food, preferably at the same time, each day. If you have missed a dose, take it as soon as you remember it and finish the full course of treatment even if you feel better. Stopping the medication suddenly without talking to your doctor may cause an increased frequency of seizures. Your doctor may advise regular monitoring of serum bicarbonate levels while you are taking this medicine.

Some of the common side effects of this medicine include nausea, taste change, fatigue, diarrhea, weight loss, loss of appetite, and memory impairment. It may also cause vision problems like myopia or glaucoma, so it is important to get your eyesight checked before you start the treatment and regularly thereafter. You may experience dizziness and sleepiness, so do not drive or do anything that requires mental focus until you know how this medicine affects you. Please consult your doctor if these side effects bother you or do not go away.

Topamed 25mg Tablet is an anticonvulsant (or anti-epileptic) medicine that works by decreasing the nerve impulses which cause the seizures. By controlling the frequency of seizures, it will help you go about your daily activities with more confidence. It helps reduce symptoms such as confusion, uncontrollable jerking movements, loss of awareness, and fear or anxiety.
This medicine is not associated with any physical or psychological dependence (addiction) but it should not be stopped suddenly. It must be taken regularly as prescribed to be effective. Missing doses may trigger a seizure.

लेनोक्स-गैसटॉट सिंड्रोम
Lennox-Gastaut syndrome (LGS) is a rare but severe form of epilepsy that usually starts in early childhood. Affected children may experience several different types of seizures. Topamed 25mg Tablet helps prevent and control these seizures by decreasing the nerve impulses which cause the seizures.

माइग्रेन
Migraine is a condition marked by repeated headaches that can interfere with daily activities. Topamed 25mg Tablet helps reduce how often migraine attacks occur and lowers their intensity over time. Regular use supports better migraine control and helps improve day-to-day functioning and quality of life.

Do not consume Ulipristal acetate with Topiramate. If Ulipristal acetate is essential, ensure a gap of At least 4 weeks after discontinuing Topiramate. Please consult your doctor.

इमैटिनिब मेसिलेट (ओरल रूट)

Do not consume Imatinib mesylate with Topiramate. If concurrent use is essential, your doctor may monitor your treatment and adjust the doses as per the observations. Topiramate may reduce blood levels and efficacy of Imatinib mesylate.

Watch out for symptoms such as tremors. seizures or impaired coordination and consult your doctor if you experience them. Your doctor may consider separating the administration of Orlistat and Topiramate. Orlistat may reduce efficacy of Topiramate.

The dose and duration of this medicine will depend on your doctor’s advice. Topamed 25mg Tablet does not cure your condition (seizures/migraine) but prevents them from occurring. So, you may have to keep taking it for months or years depending on improvement in your symptoms and side effects that may occur.

Is Topamed 25mg Tablet good for anxiety?

Topamed 25mg Tablet is not indicated for the treatment of anxiety. Please consult your doctor before taking the medicine.

What are the serious side effects of Topamed 25mg Tablet?

Serious side effects of Topamed 25mg Tablet are rare. The serious effects of Topamed 25mg Tablet may include glaucoma (difficulty in seeing, eye pain, and blurred vision), kidney stones (sharp pain in your sides or lower back), and metabolic acidosis (tiredness, loss of appetite, irregular and faint heartbeat). Other serious side effects of Topamed 25mg Tablet could be suicidal thoughts and insufficient sweating (some children taking Topamed 25mg Tablet may not sweat enough in hot weather, causing their body temperatures to rise).

I am taking valproic acid for fits. Will Topamed 25mg Tablet interfere with the working of valproic acid? Can this combination be taken?

Topamed 25mg Tablet does not interfere with the working of valproic acid, but it increases the risk of getting excess levels of ammonia in the blood (hyperammonemia). Increased levels of ammonia in the blood can be dangerous and may cause difficulty in thinking, remembering information, or solving problems. It may also decrease your alertness and make you feel very sleepy with low energy. Immediately inform your doctor if you notice these symptoms. It is important to know that, in rare cases, Topamed 25mg Tablet alone can cause hyperammonemia.

Can Topamed 25mg Tablet be used in children?

Yes, Topamed 25mg Tablet is used for seizures in children more than 2 years of age. However, because of the lack of any reports, this medicine is not recommended to be used in children for migraines.

Since I have started using Topamed 25mg Tablet people are saying that I have lost weight. Is it because of Topamed 25mg Tablet or something else for which I should get investigated?

It could be due to Topamed 25mg Tablet because Topamed 25mg Tablet commonly causes weight loss probably due to a decrease in appetite. If you still have any doubts, talk to your doctor who will advise you appropriately.
