How to use Tigatel Tablet
Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Tigatel 12 mg Tablet is to be taken with food.
How Tigatel Tablet works
Tigatel 12 mg Tablet controls seizures by increasing the levels of GABA, a chemical messenger which suppresses the abnormal and excessive activity of the nerve cells in the brain.

Alcohol
CAUTION
Tigatel 12 mg Tablet may cause excessive drowsiness and calmness with alcohol.
Pregnancy
WEIGH RISKS VS BENEFITS
Tigatel 12 mg Tablet may be unsafe to use during pregnancy.
Animal studies have shown adverse effects on the foetus, however, there are limited human studies. The benefits from use in pregnant women may be acceptable despite the risk. Please consult your doctor.
Lactation
CAUTION
Tigatel 12 mg Tablet is probably unsafe to use during lactation. Limited human data suggest that the drug could represent a significant risk to the baby.
Driving
Tigatel 12 mg Tablet may make you feel dizzy, sleepy, tired, or decrease alertness. If this happens, do not drive.
Kidney
SAFE
Tigatel 12 mg Tablet is safe to use in patients with kidney disease. No dose adjustment of Tigatel 12 mg Tablet is recommended.
Liver
CAUTION
Tigatel 12 mg Tablet should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Dose adjustment of Tigatel 12 mg Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor.
Use of Tigatel 12 mg Tablet is not recommended in patients with severe liver disease.
What if you miss a dose of Tigatel Tablet?
If you miss a dose of Tigatel 12 mg Tablet, skip it and continue with your normal schedule. Do not double the dose.

Expert Advice

  • Inform your doctor before taking tiagabine if you have mild to moderate liver disorders or intolerance to some sugars.
  • Consult your doctor if you notice increase in the number and severity of seizures, appearance of skin rashes, pimples or blisters, anxiety, depression or visual disorders.
  • Do not drive a vehicle or operate heavy machinery after taking this drug as it may cause dizziness, sleepiness or tiredness.
  • Do not stop the treatment with tiagabine without consulting your doctor as it may lead to recurrence of seizures.
  • Inform your doctor before taking the drug if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant or breastfeeding.

my wife PATIENT suffering from Epilepsy. she gets it generally when she is feeling weak or exhausted or if she has some small accident at home /outside which hurts her body part little severely. we did follow a course of epilepsy tablets for 6 month in 2010 but it was exhausting her and health was further deteriorating. hence stopped that. this year it happened twice every time with reason. me and family support her all the way emotionally / mentally. also makes sure that she is having proper diet and sleep. please advise what best can be done medicine wise and in terms of improving health by diet or nah other ways. thank you
