Thiepin 75mg Tablet is used in the treatment of depression, neuropathic pain and anxiety disorder. It is used in patients intolerant of or unresponsive to alternative treatment options for depression.

How to use Thiepin Tablet

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Thiepin 75mg Tablet may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.

Thiepin 75mg Tablet increases the levels of chemical messengers in the brain that help in regulating the mood and treat depression.

Expert advice for Thiepin Tablet

  • The main dose should be taken at night as this drug may produce drowsiness or sleepiness.
  • It can take 4 to 6 weeks for Thiepin to start working.
  • You should continue the treatment for at least 6 months after you feel better to stop depression from coming back.
  • If your doctor asks you to stop Thiepin, you should reduce the dose slowly over 4 weeks. You should not discontinue it abruptly.
  • Avoid driving or operating machinery as it may decrease alertness.
  • Avoid consuming alcohol when taking the Thiepin, as it may cause excessive drowsiness and calmness.
  • The addiction/dependence potential of Thiepin is very less.
  • It may be extremely dangerous in overdose.

Driving
It is not known whether Thiepin 75mg Tablet alters the ability to drive. Do not drive if you experience any symptoms that affect your ability to concentrate and react.
Kidney
There is limited information available on the use of Thiepin 75mg Tablet in patients with kidney disease. Please consult your doctor.

Thiepin and doxepin are different medicines but belong to the similar chemical class. Doxepin, at low doses, can improve sleep in patients with insomnia. It is also available in the topical form for use in various neuro-dermatitis syndrome, especially itching.

No. Sertraline and Thiepin both are the anti-depressant. Sertraline may increase the high blood level of Thiepin. This may lead to a life-threatening or dangerous side effect of hyperthermia, seizure, arrhythmia, tachycardia, orthostatic hypotension or sudden death.
