Sertacad 50 mg Tablet is used in the treatment of depression, anxiety disorder, phobia, post traumatic stress disorder and obsessive-compulsive disorder.

How to use Sertacad Tablet

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Sertacad 50 mg Tablet may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.

How Sertacad Tablet works

Sertacad 50 mg Tablet is a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) antidepressant. It works by increasing the levels of serotonin, a chemical messenger in the brain. This improves mood and physical symptoms in depression and relieves symptoms of panic and obsessive disorders.

Alcohol
CAUTION
Sertacad 50 mg Tablet may cause excessive drowsiness and calmness with alcohol.
Pregnancy

Sertacad 50 mg Tablet may be unsafe to use during pregnancy.
Animal studies have shown adverse effects on the foetus, however, there are limited human studies. The benefits from use in pregnant women may be acceptable despite the risk. Please consult your doctor.
Lactation
CAUTION
Sertacad 50 mg Tablet is probably unsafe to use during lactation. Limited human data suggest that the drug could represent a significant risk to the baby.
Driving
Sertacad 50 mg Tablet may cause side effects which could affect your ability to drive.
Kidney
SAFE
Sertacad 50 mg Tablet is safe to use in patients with kidney disease. No dose adjustment of Sertacad 50 mg Tablet is recommended.
However, inform your doctor if you have an underlying kidney disease as you may be given a smaller dose initially and then increased slowly as required.
Liver
CAUTION
Sertacad 50 mg Tablet should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Dose adjustment of Sertacad 50 mg Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor.
Use of Sertacad 50 mg Tablet is not recommended in patients with severe liver disease.

What if you miss a dose of Sertacad Tablet?

If you miss a dose of Sertacad 50 mg Tablet, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

Sir I am ocd patient and on medication for 2 years. Medication has reduced my symptoms upto 70%. I take 25mg paroxetine twice daily and 100mg quetiapine thrice daily. Sir please tell me how long I should continue medication and how to lower dose to discontinuation. I will be much greatful to you.

Sertacad is not addictive. However, sudden discontinuation or decrease in dose of Sertacad may cause effects like dizziness, numbness, sleep disturbances, agitation or anxiety, headaches, nausea, vomiting and shaking.
