Introduction of Rapilin Tablet

Rapilin 1 mg Tablet is a medicine used in the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus. It results in fast and effective control of blood sugar following meals. It is generally used in combination with other medicines. It should be used along with a proper diet and exercise for best results. Hypoglycemia (low blood sugar level) may occur as a side effect, particularly if you don't maintain a regular diet or exercise schedule.

How to use Rapilin Tablet

How Rapilin Tablet works

Rapilin 1 mg Tablet is an anti-diabetic medication. It increases the amount of insulin released by the pancreas which prevents blood glucose from rising very high after meals.

Alcohol
CAUTION
It is unsafe to consume alcohol with Rapilin 1 mg Tablet. Taking repaglinide with alcohol may affect blood glucose levels in patients with diabetes.
Pregnancy
WEIGH RISKS VS BENEFITS
Rapilin 1 mg Tablet may be unsafe to use during pregnancy.
Animal studies have shown adverse effects on the fetus, however, there are limited human studies. The benefits from use in pregnant women may be acceptable despite the risk. Please consult your doctor.
Lactation
Rapilin 1 mg Tablet is probably safe to use during lactation. Limited human data suggests that the drug does not represent a significant risk to the baby.
Monitor the breastfed baby’s blood sugar during treatment with Rapilin 1 mg Tablet
Driving
Your ability to drive may be affected if your blood sugar is low or high. If this happens, do not drive.
Kidney
Rapilin 1 mg Tablet should be used with caution in patients with severe kidney disease. Dose adjustment of Rapilin 1 mg Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor.
Liver
CAUTION
Rapilin 1 mg Tablet should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Dose adjustment of Rapilin 1 mg Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor.
Use of Rapilin 1 mg Tablet is not recommended in patients with severe liver disease.

What if you miss a dose of Rapilin Tablet?

If you miss a dose of Rapilin 1 mg Tablet, skip it and continue with your normal schedule. Do not double the dose.

Q. How long does Rapilin take to start working?

Rapilin starts working 30 minutes after it has been taken. After you take Rapilin, the insulin levels increase causing a decrease in the blood sugar levels. The effect usually lasts for 4 hours.

Q. Can I take alcohol while I am taking Rapilin?

No, you should avoid alcohol while taking Rapilin since alcohol interferes with the working of Rapilin. You may experience signs and symptoms of low blood sugar levels which include weakness, shakiness, cold sweat, cool pale skin, rapid heartbeat, tremors, extreme hunger, dizziness, headache and anxiety.

Q. Can Rapilin be taken with other antidiabetic drugs?

Yes, it can be taken with other antidiabetic drugs but according to your doctor’s advice. But since all these drugs lower blood sugar levels, regular monitoring of blood sugar levels is recommended.

Q. Can I continue to breastfeed while taking Rapilin?

No, you should not breastfeed your baby because if Rapilin passes in breast milk, your baby may experience low blood sugar levels which is harmful for your baby. Ask your doctor for advice.

Q. Do I need to stop clopidogrel if I am taking Rapilin?

You should inform your doctor and take his advice. If you cannot avoid using clopidogrel with Rapilin, take 0.5 mg Rapilin before each meal. The total daily dose should not be more than 4 mg. Monitor your blood sugar levels more frequently.
