Overview

Introduction of Parawin Tablet

Parawin 650 mg Tablet helps in relieving moderate pain and reducing fever. It effectively alleviates pain and helps to reduce fever. It is used in many conditions such as muscle pain, back pain, and toothache.

Parawin 650 mg Tablet should be taken in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. It may be taken with or without food. Take it with food if stomach upset occurs. Inform your doctor if you are also taking other medications containing paracetamol to avoid overdose. Please consult your doctor in case your pain or fever does not subside. Vomiting, difficulty sleeping and constipation may be seen as side effects in some patients. Inform your doctor immediately if any rash or allergic reaction is observed while taking this medicine. Pregnant and nursing women should use it under medical supervision only. It should be used with caution in patients with liver and kidney disease or alcohol abuse. It is not recommended in patients with severe or active liver disease.

How to use Parawin Tablet

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Parawin 650 mg Tablet is to be taken with food.

How Parawin Tablet works

Parawin 650 mg Tablet is an analgesic (pain reliever) and anti-pyretic (fever reducer). It works by blocking the release of certain chemical messengers that cause pain and fever.

Alcohol
UNSAFE
It is unsafe to consume alcohol with Parawin 650 mg Tablet Taking Paracetamol/Acetaminophen with alcohol can cause liver damage.
Pregnancy
SAFE IF PRESCRIBED
Parawin 650 mg Tablet is safe to use during pregnancy. Most studies have shown low or no risk to the developing baby.
Lactation
SAFE IF PRESCRIBED
Parawin 650 mg Tablet is safe to use during breastfeeding. Human studies suggest that the drug does not pass into the breastmilk in a significant amount and is not harmful to the baby.
Driving
SAFE
Parawin 650 mg Tablet does not usually affect your ability to drive.
Kidney
CAUTION
Parawin 650 mg Tablet should be used with caution in patients with kidney disease. Dose adjustment of Parawin 650 mg Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor.
However, Parawin 650 mg Tablet contains paracetamol which is considered the safest painkiller for kidney disease patients.
Liver
CAUTION
Parawin 650 mg Tablet should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Dose adjustment of Parawin 650 mg Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor.
However, the use of Parawin 650 mg Tablet is not recommended in patients with severe liver disease and active liver disease.

FAQs

Q. What if my child vomits after taking Parawin?

If your child vomits in less than 30 minutes after having a dose of Parawin tablets or syrup, give him/her the same dose again. If your child vomits more than 30 minutes after a dose of tablets or syrup, you do not need to give him/her another dose, until the next normal dose.

Q. When will my child feel better after taking Parawin?

Usually your child will feel better after about half an hour of taking Parawin.

Q. How often can I give Parawin to my child?

You should only give four doses of Parawin in 24 hours. There should be a gap of at least 4 hours between two doses. Do not give Parawin for more than 3 days to your child without first talking to your doctor.

Q. Can I give Parawin syrup to my child for cold?

Parawin along with relieving fever also helps in controlling problems associated with cold such as headache and earache associated with cold. However, it does help relieve stuffy nose and cough for which doctor’s advice is required.

Q. Does Parawin make babies sleepy?

No, Parawin does not make babies sleepy, contrary to the common belief.

Q. Is Parawin safe for children?

If used as directed by the physician, Parawin is safe for children.

Q. Is Parawin an antibiotic?

No, Parawin is not an antibiotic. It works as a painkiller and as a medicine which brings down high fever.

Q. Can I give my child Parawin and ibuprofen together?

Ibuprofen and Parawin are safe painkillers which can be given to children, though both should not be used together. Instead, if you have given your child Parawin and still he/she is feverish or in pain you could try ibuprofen instead, when the next dose is due.
