It can be taken with or without food, but it is better to take Ondero 5mg tablet at a fixed time.

Linagliptin(5 mg)


Ondero 5mg tablet is used alone or in combination with other drugs to treat type 2 diabetes mellitus.

How it works

Ondero 5mg tablet is an oral antidiabetic belongs to a class of medications called dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4) inhibitors. It acts by inhibiting the enzyme (dipeptidyl peptidase-4; DPP-4) which prevents the breakdown of substances called as incretins, ultimately increasing the production of insulin that reduces blood glucose level at fasting and after intake of food.

Do not start or continue linagliptin and consult your doctor: 
  • If you are allergic to linagliptin or to any medicine from the same group (DPP-4 inhibitors).
  • If you have type 1 diabetes or if you have serious complication of diabetes where high levels of blood acids called ketones are produced in your body (diabetic ketoacidosis).
  • If you are taking insulin or other antidiabetic drug known as a sulphonylurea, your doctor may reduce the dose of your medicines, as it may otherwise cause excessively low blood glucose (hypoglycemia).
  • If you are already being treated with insulin (medicine to lower blood sugar levels) and have severe kidney disease.
  • If you have/had a disease of the pancreas.
  • Do not substitute it with insulin, if you are on insulin.
