Introduction

Odimont 5mg Tablet is a prescription medicine used for asthma prevention and for the treatment of allergy symptoms such as sneezing and runny nose. It reduces inflammation in the airways and make breathing easier.



This medicine is not used to relieve sudden breathing problems. Thus, you must use inhaler to get quick relief. It may be taken with or without food. But, It is better to take it in a dose and duration as advised by the doctor. You should complete the full course of treatment and should never stop this medicine without consulting the doctor.

It is a relatively safe medicine with very few side effects like nausea, vomiting and diarrhea.

How to use Odimont Tablet

How Odimont Tablet works

Breastfeeding
SAFE IF PRESCRIBED
Odimont 5mg Tablet is probably safe to use during breastfeeding. Limited human data suggests that the drug does not represent any significant risk to the baby.
Driving
UNSAFE
Odimont 5mg Tablet may decrease alertness, affect your vision or make you feel sleepy and dizzy. Do not drive if these symptoms occur.
Kidney
SAFE IF PRESCRIBED
Odimont 5mg Tablet is safe to use in patients with kidney disease. No dose adjustment of Odimont 5mg Tablet is recommended.
Liver
CAUTION
Odimont 5mg Tablet should be used with caution in patients with severe liver disease. Dose adjustment of Odimont 5mg Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor.
Limited information is available on the use of Odimont 5mg Tablet in these patients. No dose adjustment is recommended in patients with mild to moderate liver disease.

What if you forget to take Odimont Tablet?

If you miss a dose of Odimont 5mg Tablet, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

I am suffering from asthma from last few years.i m using esiflo250 and salbair-i. Before 1 week i suffered from severe cold and asthma. Then after taking some madicine which my dr. Already suggested i m 90% cured. I used ambrodil-s and odimont fx.after 3days of runny nose i found blood in my nose. Then,since tomorrow when after cough i spit, i notice minute blood in the spitted mucus. But it is 3 -4 times i notice during the day. But remaining times it was bloodless wht is this?

Q. Why do you have to take Odimont at night?

Usually, it is recommended to take Odimont in the evening when it is being used for asthma and allergic rhinitis (cough and cold due to allergy). However, the exact reason for this is not yet known. Some studies have shown that there is no difference in effectiveness whether Odimont is taken in the evening or morning. Hence, take the medicine as directed by your doctor.

Q. Is Odimont a steroid?

No, Odimont is not a steroid. It is a leukotriene blocker. Leukotrienes are natural substances released during an allergic reaction which causes constriction of muscles of airway. It can also cause allergy symptoms. This medicine blocks leukotrienes which helps in relieving symptoms of asthma and allergic rhinitis.

Q. Does Odimont make you drowsy?

An uncommon side effect of Odimont is drowsiness. It can also cause dizziness. Avoid driving or operating heavy machinery until you know how the medicine affects you. Consult your doctor if you experience these side effects.

Q. Can I drink alcohol while taking Odimont?

Consumption of alcohol should be restricted while taking Odimont as it may cause dizziness and drowsiness as a side effect. Also, liver disorders caused as side effect of Odimont may occur more commonly with use of alcohol.

Q. Can Odimont cause mood changes?

Yes, although uncommonly but Odimont may cause mood changes. The symptoms of mood change include anxiety, agitation, aggressive behaviour or hostility, irritability, and restlessness. One may also experience depression and suicidal tendency. Consult your doctor immediately in case you develop any of these symptoms.

Q. Can Odimont cause weird dreams?

Yes, in rare cases Odimont may cause night mares, sleeplessness, and sleep walking. You should contact your doctor if these symptoms persist.

Q. How should Odimont be taken?

Odimont should be taken exactly as directed by your doctor. The medicine should be used preferably in the evening with or without food when being used for asthma. Whereas, for allergic rhinitis, it can be taken at any time of the day but at the same time each day. But, if you are taking it to avoid breathing difficulties during exercise, it should be taken 2 hours before exercise.

Q. How should Odimont granules be given to children?

It can be directly given in the mouth or dissolve in 1 teaspoonful of cold or room temperature baby formula or breast milk. It can also be used with 1 spoonful of mashed carrots, applesauce, rice, or ice-cream. Remember to give the mixture within 15 minutes of making it.
