Treatment of HIV infection
Nevimat 200mg Tablet prevents HIV from multiplying in the body. It helps control the infection and makes the immune system work better. This lowers the chances of getting complications, such as new infections, and improves your quality of life.

Nevimat 200mg Tablet is not a cure for HIV or AIDS and should not be used to prevent HIV after accidental exposure. It is important that this medicine be taken as prescribed by the doctor. Taking all doses in the right amount at the right times greatly increases the effectiveness of the medicine and reduces the chances of HIV infection becoming resistant to antiretroviral medicines. Although taking this medicine will not prevent the passing of HIV to other people.

Most side effects do not require any medical attention and disappear as your body adjusts to the medicine. Consult your doctor if they persist or if you’re worried about them

How Nevimat Tablet works

Nevimat 200mg Tablet prevents the multiplication of HIV virus in human cells, thereby stopping the HIV virus from producing new viruses.

  • You have been prescribed Nevimat 200mg Tablet for the treatment of HIV (human immunodeficiency virus).
  • Take it as per dose and duration suggested by your doctor.
  • If you miss a dose for more than 7 days, consult your doctor as dose modification may be required. 
  • You might notice skin reactions during the first 2 weeks of treatment. Inform your doctor if you notice a fever, swelling of face, mouth sores, blistering of skin and trouble breathing.
  • Your doctor may check your liver function regularly for a period of 18 weeks. Inform your doctor if you notice yellowing of eyes or skin, dark urine or stomach pain.
  • It makes birth control pills less effective in nature. Ask your doctor about other suitable methods of preventing pregnancy.

Nevimat 200mg Tablet is generally considered safe to use during pregnancy. Animal studies do not indicate harmful effects. However, there are limited human studies.

Nevimat 200mg Tablet should be used with caution during breastfeeding. Breastfeeding should be held until the treatment of the mother is completed and the drug is eliminated from the body.

You may experience fatigue while taking Nevimat 200mg Tablet and this may affect your ability to drive.

Nevimat 200mg Tablet should be used with caution in patients with severe kidney disease. Dose adjustment may be needed.
However, inform your doctor if you have any underlying kidney disease.

Nevimat 200mg Tablet should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Dose adjustment may be needed.
Use of Nevimat 200mg Tablet is not recommended in patients with moderate to severe liver disease. Regular monitoring of liver function tests is advised while you are taking this medicine.

Interaction with drugs

Taking Nevimat with any of the following medicines can modify the effect of either of them and cause some undesirable side effects

Apalutamide (Oral Route)

Concomitant use should be avoided. Please consult with your doctor. Apalutamide may increase the metabolism of Nevirapine.

Atazanavir (Oral Route)

Do not consume Nevirapine with Atazanavir.

Bosentan (Oral Route)

Do not consume Nevirapine with Bosentan. Bosentan may reduce blood levels of Nevirapine.

Efavirenz (Oral Route)

Do not consume Nevirapine with Efavirenz. If concurrent use is essential, watch out for symptoms such as difficulty sleeping, irritability or vivid dreams. Please consult your doctor. Nevirapine may reduce blood levels of Efavirenz.

Enzalutamide (Oral Route)

Do not consume Nevirapine with Enzalutamide. Enzalutamide may reduce blood levels of Nevirapine.
