Montek 10 Tablet is a prescription medicine used for asthma prevention and for the treatment of allergy symptoms such as sneezing and runny nose. It reduces inflammation in the airways and makes breathing easier.

Montek 10 Tablet can be taken with or without food. Take it at the same time to get the most benefit. It is advised to have it 2 hours before exercise if you have exercise-induced asthma. It should be taken as your doctor's advice. The dose and how often you take it depends on what you are taking it for. Your doctor will decide how much you need to improve your symptoms. You should take this medicine for as long as it is prescribed for you. It does not cure sudden breathing problems, so always carry a medicated inhaler with you. 

It is generally safe medicine with few common side effects include nausea, vomiting, headache, abdominal pain, and diarrhea. If these bother you or appear serious, let your doctor know. There may be ways of reducing or preventing them. Generally, you should avoid alcohol while taking this medicine.

Before taking this medicine, you should tell your doctor if you have ever had severe liver problems. Your doctor should also know about all other medicines you are taking as many of these may make this medicine less effective or change the way it works. Montek 10 Tablet works by reducing and preventing swelling and inflammation in your lungs. It is known as a “preventer” and is used to prevent the symptoms of asthma such as tightness in your chest, wheezing, breathlessness and coughing. This means you can carry out your daily activities more easily and more confidently. It may take a few weeks for this medicine to show full effects. This medicine will not stop an asthma attack that has already started.

Driving

Montek 10 Tablet may decrease alertness, affect your vision or make you feel sleepy and dizzy. Do not drive if these symptoms occur.
Kidney
SAFE IF PRESCRIBED
Montek 10 Tablet is safe to use in patients with kidney disease. No dose adjustment of Montek 10 Tablet is recommended.
Liver
CAUTION
Montek 10 Tablet should be used with caution in patients with severe liver disease. Dose adjustment of Montek 10 Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor.
Limited information is available on the use of Montek 10 Tablet in these patients. No dose adjustment is recommended in patients with mild to moderate liver disease.

What if you forget to take Montek Tablet?

If you miss a dose of Montek 10 Tablet, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.\n \n

Hi , I am PATIENT 32 M, I am an asthama patient and as well as BP, now I ve lost prescription but i remem the tablet, But when i ask phramsist, He asked to get clarity on what i need, Suggested to take Montek. But is it Montek AB or Montek LC i have not noticed. I am a asthama Patient and i have Blood pressure as well, As suggested by For BP, I am taking Benetic A daily in evening befre going to sleep, For Asthama i am usiing Asthalin Inhaler. Recently when i have visted my he suggested me to take Montek in his prescription, Now i lost that entire file. Is it Montek LC or Montek AB. If you can please suggest me.

Q. Why do you have to take Montek 10 Tablet at night?

Usually, it is recommended to take Montek 10 Tablet in the evening when it is being used for asthma and allergic rhinitis (cough and cold due to allergy). However, the exact reason for this is not yet known. Some studies have shown that there is no difference in effectiveness whether Montek 10 Tablet is taken in the evening or morning. Hence, take the medicine as directed by your doctor.

Q. Is Montek 10 Tablet a steroid?

No, Montek 10 Tablet is not a steroid. It is a leukotriene blocker. Leukotrienes are natural substances released during an allergic reaction which causes constriction of muscles of airway. It can also cause allergy symptoms. This medicine blocks leukotrienes which helps in relieving symptoms of asthma and allergic rhinitis.

Q. Does Montek 10 Tablet make you drowsy?

An uncommon side effect of Montek 10 Tablet is drowsiness. It can also cause dizziness. Avoid driving or operating heavy machinery until you know how the medicine affects you. Consult your doctor if you experience these side effects.

Q. Can I drink alcohol while taking Montek 10 Tablet?

Consumption of alcohol should be restricted while taking Montek 10 Tablet as it may cause dizziness and drowsiness as a side effect. Also, liver disorders caused as side effect of Montek 10 Tablet may occur more commonly with use of alcohol.

Q. Can Montek 10 Tablet cause mood changes?

Yes, although uncommonly but Montek 10 Tablet may cause mood changes. The symptoms of mood change include anxiety, agitation, aggressive behaviour or hostility, irritability, and restlessness. One may also experience depression and suicidal tendency. Consult your doctor immediately in case you develop any of these symptoms.

Q. Can Montek 10 Tablet cause weird dreams?

Yes, in rare cases Montek 10 Tablet may cause night mares, sleeplessness, and sleep walking. You should contact your doctor if these symptoms persist.

Q. How should Montek 10 Tablet be taken?

Montek 10 Tablet should be taken exactly as directed by your doctor. The medicine should be used preferably in the evening with or without food when being used for asthma. Whereas, for allergic rhinitis, it can be taken at any time of the day but at the same time each day. But, if you are taking it to avoid breathing difficulties during exercise, it should be taken 2 hours before exercise.

Q. How should Montek 10 Tablet be given to children?

It can be directly given in the mouth or dissolve in 1 teaspoonful of cold or room temperature baby formula or breast milk. It can also be used with 1 spoonful of mashed carrots, applesauce, rice, or ice-cream. Remember to give the mixture within 15 minutes of making it.
