Micalan Injection works by killing the fungi which can cause serious infections. It is given by a doctor or nurse and should not be self-administered. It usually makes you feel better very quickly but you should continue taking it as prescribed even when you feel better to make sure that all the fungi and yeast causing the infection are killed and do not become resistant.

Driving

Kidney

SAFE IF PRESCRIBED

Micalan Injection is safe to use in patients with kidney disease. No dose adjustment of Micalan Injection is recommended.
However, inform your doctor if you have an underlying kidney disease. Regular monitoring of kidney function tests may be required.

Liver

CAUTION

Micalan Injection should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Dose adjustment of Micalan Injection may be needed. Please consult your doctor.

Interaction with drugs

Taking Micalan with any of the following medicines can modify the effect of either of them and cause some undesirable side effects

Moderate

Ciclosporin (Oral Route)

Your doctor may monitor your treatment. Micafungin may increase the rate of release of Ciclosporin in the blood.

Ciclosporin (Injection Route)

Your doctor may monitor your treatment. Micafungin may increase the rate of release of Ciclosporin in the blood.

Moderate

Amphotericin B (Injection Route)

Do not consume Micafungin with Amphotericin B. If concurrent use is essential, watch out for symptoms such as fever, chills, headache, nausea, vomiting or muscle cramps and consult your doctor if you experience them. They may adjust the doses as per the observations. Micafungin may raise blood levels of Amphotericin B.

If concurrent use is essential, watch out for symptoms such as fatigue, nausea, loss of appetite, dark urine or jaundice and consult your doctor if you experience them. They may adjust the doses as per the observations.
