Side Effects of Mesalo are Rash, Headache, Vomiting, Nausea, Abdominal pain, Dyspepsia, Diarrhoea.
Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Mesalo OD Tablet is to be taken with food.
Mesalo OD Tablet is an aminosalicylate. It works by suppressing the production of chemical messengers (prostaglandins) that cause inflammation (swelling) in the intestines. This reduces ulceration, bleeding and painful symptoms, and prevents future flare-ups of the disease.

- You have been prescribed Mesalo OD Tablet for treating and lowering the symptoms of mild inflammatory bowel disease such as ulcerative colitis.
- Don't break, chew, or crush the tablets or granules. Swallow them whole with plenty of water.
- Do not take antacids with Mesalo OD Tablet as it can make your inflammation worse.
- Your doctor may monitor your kidney and liver functions before you start treatment with this medicine and regularly thereafter. Inform your doctor if you have severely decreased kidney or liver function.
- Don't take Mesalo OD Tablet if you're allergic to aspirin or if you have blood disorders.

Mesalo OD Tablet may be unsafe to use during pregnancy.
Animal studies have shown adverse effects on the foetus, however, there are limited human studies. The benefits from use in pregnant women may be acceptable despite the risk. Please consult your doctor.
Mesalo OD Tablet is probably safe to use during lactation.
Limited human data suggests that the drug does not represent a significant risk to the baby.
If you are taking Mesalo OD Tablet, monitor the baby for diarrhea.
Mesalo OD Tablet does not usually affect your ability to drive.
Mesalo OD Tablet should be used with caution in patients with kidney disease. Dose adjustment of Mesalo OD Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor.
Use of Mesalo OD Tablet is not recommended in patients with severe kidney disease.

If you miss a dose of Mesalo OD Tablet, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

Make list of every food that you find hard to digest and that cause to problems and avoid all such list. Remember this list will keep on changing as the disease progression occurs In general, take a diet, which contain less fibre like white bread, pasta, refined wheat floor roti, and other cereals having less fibre. You can take chicken, fish, egg whites, milk(if not lactose intolerance), cheese, fruits like banana, watermelon, peach etc Use olive oil for cooking. Avoid spicy foods, tea, coffee, alcohol, soft drinks, red meat, raw vegetables, popcorn,dryfruits, refined sugars as well as high fibre foodsConsult your gastroenterologist for further management
