Lynewise Tablet can be taken with or without food, but take it at the same time to get the most benefit. It should be taken as your doctor's advice. The dose and how often you take it depends on what you are taking it for. Your doctor will decide how much you need to improve your symptoms. Swallow the tablets whole with a glass of water. You should take this medicine for as long as it is prescribed for you. If you missed your dose and you are late by 12 hours in taking the missed dose, in that case, you must use a condom while intercourse for a period of 2 days.

The most common side effects of this medicine include headache, nausea, weight gain, and acne. If these bother you or appear serious, let your doctor know. There may be ways of reducing or preventing them. Usually, it makes your menstrual cycle irregular, consult with your doctor if this occurs frequently.

Before taking this medicine, let your doctor know if you have ever had diabetes, unexplained vaginal bleeding, and have high blood pressure. Your doctor should also know about all other medicines you are taking as many of these may make this medicine less effective or change the way it works. Generally, if you experience vomiting within 2 hours of dose intake, take another dose as soon as you feel better.

Additionally, it prevents thickening of the lining of your womb, thereby making it unfavourable for an egg to grow in it. Lynewise Tablet is a reliable and safe method for contraception, if used correctly. It does not interrupt with sex and you can lead a normal routine life without any worries. How to use Lynewise Tablet

How Lynewise Tablet works

Lynewise Tablet is a progestin (female hormone). It works by stopping the sperm cells from entering the uterus, thickening the cervical mucus and preventing the development of female egg. This helps prevent pregnancy.

Lynewise Tablet helps prevent pregnancy.
Take it continuously at the same time everyday with no break between pack of pills.
Unlike other combined oral contraceptives, it can also be taken by women who smoke, are over 35 yrs of age or are breastfeeding.
If you are more than 12 hours late in taking a pill you will not be protected against pregnancy. Use other contraceptive methods such as condoms for the next two days.
It may stop your periods or make them lighter, irregular or more frequent.
If you vomit within 2 hours of taking Lynewise Tablet, take another pill as soon as you feel well.
Stop taking this medicine and inform your doctor immediately if you notice unexplained swelling and pain in your limbs, shortness of breath, chest pain, severe headache, or changes in vision. These could be symptoms of a blood clot in a vein.

Interaction with drugs

Taking Lynewise with any of the following medicines can modify the effect of either of them and cause some undesirable side effects

Tamoxifen (Oral Route)

Do not consume Tamoxifen with Lynestrenol if you have or had breast cancer. If essential, consult your doctor. Lynestrenol may reduce the efficacy of Tamoxifen.

Severe

Letrozole (Oral Route)

Do not consume Letrozole with Lynestrenol if you have or had breast cancer. If essential, consult your doctor.

Severe

Mycophenolate mofetil (Oral Route)

Effective contraception must be used before, during, and for at least 6 weeks after stopping Mycophenolate mofetil. It is recommended to consult your doctor. Mycophenolate mofetil may reduce the efficacy of Lynestrenol.

Perampanel (Oral Route)

It is recommended to use barrier methods (like condoms), IUDs, or a depot for contraception. Your doctor may monitor your treatment closely and adjust the doses as per the observations. Use barrier methods (like condoms) for contraception to reduce the risk of HIV infection. Perampanel may reduce the efficacy of Lynestrenol.

Severe

Anastrozole (Oral Route)

Do not consume Anastrozole with Lynestrenol if you have or had breast cancer. If essential, consult your doctor. Lynestrenol may reduce the efficacy of Anastrozole.

If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember and continue the usual dosing schedule. However, if the dose was missed by more than 3 hours, you may not be totally protected against pregnancy. Use a non-hormonal method of contraception such as condoms, at least for the next 7 days to prevent pregnancy. Frequent missing of doses may lead to unexpected vaginal bleeding or spotting (blood stain). Consult your doctor if this persists.

What if I vomit after taking Lynewise Tablet?

If you vomit within 3-4 hours of taking Lynewise Tablet, then it is considered as a missed dose. So, you should take another dose.

What are the common side effects of taking Lynewise Tablet?

You may experience irregular vaginal bleeding while taking Lynewise Tablet. Other common side effects include headache, nausea (feeling sick), acne, depression (sad mood), and breast pain. Most of them are temporary, if these persist, consult with your doctor.

What are the advantages of using Lynewise Tablet (progesterone-only pill) over combined oral contraceptive pills?

The progesterone only pill can also be used by those women who are lactating. With progesterone only pills, you would stay away from the side effects of estrogen, which are usually associated with combined oral contraceptive pills.
