How to use Labebet Tablet

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Labebet 200 mg Tablet is to be taken with food.

Labebet 200 mg Tablet is an alpha and beta blocker. It works by slowing down the heart rate and relaxing blood vessels which makes the heart more efficient at pumping blood around the body.

  • Labebet 200 mg Tablet is the first choice medication for treating heart failure and for preventing angina attacks (chest pain caused by heart disease).
  • It may also be used to lower high blood pressure in addition to other medicines which further helps in preventing strokes and heart attacks.
  • It should be taken with food.
  • Check your blood pressure 1 week after starting Labebet 200 mg Tablet, and inform your doctor if it hasn't improved.
  • Labebet 200 mg Tablet may cause dizziness or sleepiness. Don't drive or do anything requiring concentration until you know how it affects you.
  • It may cause you to feel lightheaded or weak especially when you stand up (orthostatic hypotension).  Rise slowly if you have been sitting or lying down.
  • It is best to avoid drinking alcohol while taking Labebet 200 mg Tablet as it may make the side effects worse.
  • Do not stop taking Labebet 200 mg Tablet suddenly as it can cause your blood pressure to rise suddenly thereby increasing the risk of heart attack and stroke.

Special precautions for Labebet Tablet
Taking Labetalol and alcohol may have additive effects in lowering your blood pressure. You may experience headache, dizziness, lightheadedness, fainting, and/or changes in pulse or heart rate.
Labebet 200 mg Tablet may be unsafe to use during pregnancy.
Animal studies have shown adverse effects on the foetus, however, there are limited human studies. The benefits from use in pregnant women may be acceptable despite the risk. Please consult your doctor.
Labebet 200 mg Tablet is probably safe to use during lactation. Limited human data suggests that the drug does not represent a significant risk to the baby.
Labebet 200 mg Tablet may make you feel dizzy, sleepy, tired, or decrease alertness. If this happens, do not drive.
Labebet 200 mg Tablet is safe to use in patients with kidney disease. No dose adjustment of Labebet 200 mg Tablet is recommended.
However, talk to your doctor if you have any underlying kidney disease. Regular monitoring of blood pressure is recommended for better dose adjustment.
