Product introduction

Grubid Capsule should be taken in the dose and duration as advised by the doctor. You can take it at any time of day with food but try to take it at the same time each day. Most people with high cholesterol do not feel ill, but if you stop taking this medicine, your condition could get worse. This may lead to your cholesterol levels rising up again and increase your risk of heart disease and stroke. It is important to have your cholesterol levels checked regularly.

This medicine is only one part of a treatment program which should also include a healthy diet, regular exercise, smoking cessation, moderation of alcohol intake and weight reduction. You can eat normally while taking this medicine, but try to avoid foods that are high in fat.

Common side effects of this medicine include nausea, abdominal pain, diarrhea, and vomiting. Before taking this medicine it is better to let your doctor know about all the other medicines that are prescribed to you. This medicine should be taken with caution if you are suffering from any kidney or liver disease. Also, pregnant women and breastfeeding mothers should not take this medicine without consulting the doctor.

Interaction with drugs

Taking Grubid with any of the following medicines can modify the effect of either of them and cause some undesirable side effects
Severe

Phenindione (Oral Route)

Your doctor may frequently monitor your blood clotting time. Your doctor may adjust the dose and Phenindione accordingly. Fenofibrate may increase the effect of Phenindione.
Severe

Warfarin (Oral Route)

Your doctor may frequently monitor your blood clotting time. Your doctor may adjust the dose and Warfarin accordingly.
Moderate

Rosuvastatin (Oral Route)

Watch out for symptoms such as unexplained muscle pain, tenderness or weakness and consult your doctor if you experience them. They may adjust the dose of Rosuvastatin accordingly.
Moderate

Ursodeoxycholic Acid (Oral Route)

Do not consume Ursodeoxycholic Acid with Fenofibrate. If concurrent use is essential, your doctor may monitor the effects of Ursodeoxycholic Acid along with your overall treatment and adjust the doses as per the observations. Fenofibrate may reduce the efficacy of Ursodeoxycholic Acid.
Moderate

Gliclazide (Oral Route)

If concurrent use is essential, watch out for symptoms such as confusion, headache, nausea, dizziness or faintness and consult your doctor if you experience them. They may monitor your diabetic control and adjust the doses as per the observations.

Usually, Grubid Capsule is taken once daily with a meal. The initial dose of the medicine will depend on the type and age of the patient. Consult your doctor before you start taking the medication and follow the instructions as provided.
There is no or negligible effect on blood pressure in patients with normal blood pressure levels. However, Grubid Capsule may lead to a decrease in blood pressure in patients with high blood pressure.
Grubid Capsule should be used with caution in patients with kidney disorders. Serum creatinine levels may increase with long-term usage of Grubid Capsule but is completely reversible. The evidence of kidney damage with this medicine is rare still the kidney function blood test should be done regularly if there is a possibility of kidney damage. Consult your doctor before taking the medicine. Inform the doctor if you have had any disease and all the medicines that you are taking for a better diagnosis and treatment.
Yes, you can take Grubid Capsule with grapefruit juice. The possibility of interaction of the medicine with grapefruit is unlikely as they are broken down in our body by different enzymes. However, if in doubt then limit the intake of grapefruit juice while taking Grubid Capsule.
There are few drugs like Oral Anticoagulants or blood thinners, ciclosporin, cholesterol-lowering medications like statins and contraceptives are contraindicated while you take Grubid Capsule. Along with that, there are certain medicines which should not be taken with Grubid Capsule and therefore you must give a proper history to your doctor regarding your ongoing medication. This is done to analyze the condition and provide a proper therapy and prescription which will help minimizing the side effects of the medication.
