Uses of Encovit Tablet

Encovit 800 mg Tablet is used in the treatment of Alzheimer's disease, stroke, dementia in Parkinson's disease, age related memory loss and head injury.

How to use Encovit Tablet

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Encovit 800 mg Tablet may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.

How Encovit Tablet works

Encovit 800 mg Tablet is a nootropic medicine. It works by increasing the activity of a chemical messenger (acetylcholine) which improves communication between the nerve cells. It also protects the brain and nervous system against shortness of oxygen.

It is unsafe to consume alcohol with Encovit 800 mg Tablet.
Encovit 800 mg Tablet is probably safe to use during pregnancy.
Animal studies have shown low or no adverse effect on the foetus, however, there are limited human studies. Please consult your doctor.
No information is available on the use of Encovit 800 mg Tablet during lactation. Please consult your doctor.
Do not drive unless you are feeling well.
Encovit 800 mg Tablet may cause drowsiness and shakiness. This may affect your driving ability.

Parkinsonism is Disorder of motor activity characterised by slowness of movement and stiffness. Memory loss is a consequence of dementia. Both can occur together. Dementia involves damage of nerve cells in the brain, which can occur in several areas of the brain. Dementia affects people differently, depending on the area of the brain affected. Most types of dementia can't be cured, but there are ways to manage the behavioural symptoms. A neurological and psychiatric evaluation is required to make a rehabilitation plan for such patients.

Q. If I do not see an improvement in my symptoms, can I stop taking Encovit?

No, do not stop taking Encovit on your own. Stopping it suddenly may have unwanted effects like twitching and jerking movements. If Encovit does not improve your symptoms, consult your doctor. The doctor may suggest a slow reduction of Encovit dose.

Q. Who should avoid taking Encovit?

You should not take Encovit if you are allergic to Encovit or any of the ingredients in the medicine. Also, avoid taking Encovit if your kidney functions are severely deranged or if you ever had localised bleeding in brain (cerebral haemorrhage). You should also avoid taking this medicine if you are suffering from Huntington’s disease/chorea (a genetic disorder where the brain cells die quickly causing a deterioration of mental and physical abilities over time).

Q. What is the correct way of taking Encovit?

Encovit can be taken with or without food. Swallow the tablets as a whole with a glass of water. Do not break or chew the tablets. If you find it difficult to swallow the tablets, tell your doctor as soon as possible. Your doctor may prescribe Encovit in the form of a solution.
