Uses of Emit Tablet

Emit 10 mg Tablet is used for preventive treatment of migraine, neuropathic pain and depression. It is used in patients intolerant of or unresponsive to alternative treatment options for depression.

Side Effects of Emit are Sleepiness, Blurred vision, Increased heart rate, Dryness in mouth, Constipation, Weight gain, Difficulty in urination, Orthostatic hypotension (sudden lowering of blood pressure on standing).

How to use Emit Tablet

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Emit 10 mg Tablet may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.

How Emit Tablet works

Emit 10 mg Tablet is a tricyclic antidepressant. It works by increasing the levels of chemical messengers in the brain that help in regulating mood and treat depression. It also stops the movement of pain signals from nerves to the brain thereby relieving neuropathic pain (pain from damaged nerves).

  • Take it at bedtime to avoid feeling sleepy during the day.
  • It may take 4 to 6 weeks for Emit 10 mg Tablet to start working.
  • Monitor your weight during the treatment as Emit 10 mg Tablet can cause weight gain and increased appetite.
  • It may change your urine color to blue-green.
  • It may cause sudden drop in your blood pressure. Rise slowly if you have been sitting or lying down.
  • Don't drive or do anything requiring concentration until you know how Emit 10 mg Tablet affects you.
  • Talk to your doctor if you notice sudden mood changes or develop suicidal thoughts.
  • Avoid consuming alcohol when taking the Emit 10 mg Tablet as it may cause excessive drowsiness.

Pregnancy

Kidney
Emit 10 mg Tablet is probably safe to use in patients with kidney disease. Limited data available suggests that dose adjustment of Emit 10 mg Tablet may not be needed in these patients. Please consult your doctor.
Liver
CAUTION
Emit 10 mg Tablet should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Dose adjustment of Emit 10 mg Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor.
Use of Emit 10 mg Tablet is not recommended in patients with severe liver disease.

If you miss a dose of Emit 10 mg Tablet, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.
