Desirox 500 Tablet should be taken on an empty stomach. Take it in the exact dose and duration and take it regularly at a fixed time each day to get the maximum benefit from it.

By using Desirox 500 Tablet, this excess of iron can be decreased to safe levels by removing it from the body through stools. Desirox 500 Tablet is used to reduce excess iron from the body.
Inform your doctor if you also have upper stomach pain, clay-colored stools, or jaundice (yellowing of your skin or the whites of your eyes).
Take an adequate amount of water while taking Desirox 500 Tablet.
Desirox 500 Tablet may cause dizziness. It is advisable not to drive or operate any machinery until you feel normal again.
If you are taking any antacid, take them 2 hours before or after Desirox 500 Tablet.

Interaction with drugs

Taking Desirox with any of the following medicines can modify the effect of either of them and cause some undesirable side effects

Acenocoumarol (Oral Route)

If concurrent use is essential, watch out for bleeding and consult your doctor immediately.

Aminophylline (Oral Route)

Do not consume Deferasirox with Aminophylline. If concurrent use is essential, your doctor may monitor your treatment and adjust the doses as per the observations. Deferasirox may raise blood levels of Aminophylline.

Aminophylline (Injection Route)

Carbamazepine (Oral Route)

Your doctor may monitor the effects of Deferasirox along with your overall treatment and adjust the doses as per the observations. Carbamazepine may increase the metabolism of Deferasirox.

Cholestyramine (Oral Route)

Do not consume Deferasirox with Cholestyramine. If concurrent use is essential, your doctor may monitor your treatment and adjust the doses as per the observations. Cholestyramine may reduce blood levels of Deferasirox.
