Introduction

Delpomont Suspension is a prescription medicine used for asthma prevention and for the treatment of allergy symptoms such as sneezing and runny nose. It reduces inflammation in the airways and make breathing easier.

Delpomont Suspension can be taken with or without food. Take it at the same time to get the most benefit. It is advised to have it 2 hours before exercise if you have exercise-induced asthma. It should be taken as your doctor's advice. The dose and how often you take it depends on what you are taking it for. Your doctor will decide how much you need to improve your symptoms. Swallow the tablets whole with a drink of water. You should take this medicine for as long as it is prescribed for you. It does not cure sudden breathing problems, so always carry a medicated inhaler with you. 

It is generally safe medicine with few common side effects include nausea, vomiting, headache, abdominal pain, and diarrhea. If these bother you or appear serious, let your doctor know. There may be ways of reducing or preventing them. Generally, you should avoid alcohol while taking this medicine.

Before taking this medicine, you should tell your doctor if you have ever had severe liver problems. Your doctor should also know about all other medicines you are taking as many of these may make this medicine less effective or change the way it works. You must inform your doctor about pregnancy or breastfeeding.

This medicine will not stop an asthma attack that has already started.

Delpomont Suspension provides relief from symptoms such as blocked or runny nose, sneezing and itchy or watery eyes. This will make it easier for you to go about your daily activities. It rarely has any serious side effects and you may only need to take it on days you have symptoms. SAFE IF PRESCRIBED
Delpomont Suspension is safe to use in patients with kidney disease. No dose adjustment of Delpomont Suspension is recommended.
Liver
CAUTION
Delpomont Suspension should be used with caution in patients with severe liver disease. Dose adjustment of Delpomont Suspension may be needed. Please consult your doctor.
Limited information is available on the use of Delpomont Suspension in these patients. No dose adjustment is recommended in patients with mild to moderate liver disease.

What if you forget to take Delpomont Oral Suspension?

If you miss a dose of Delpomont Suspension, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

Q. Why do you have to take Delpomont Suspension at night?

Usually, it is recommended to take Delpomont Suspension in the evening when it is being used for asthma and allergic rhinitis (cough and cold due to allergy). However, the exact reason for this is not yet known. Some studies have shown that there is no difference in effectiveness whether Delpomont Suspension is taken in the evening or morning. Hence, take the medicine as directed by your doctor.

Q. Is Delpomont Suspension a steroid?

No, Delpomont Suspension is not a steroid. It is a leukotriene blocker. Leukotrienes are natural substances released during an allergic reaction which causes constriction of muscles of airway. It can also cause allergy symptoms. This medicine blocks leukotrienes which helps in relieving symptoms of asthma and allergic rhinitis.

Q. Does Delpomont Suspension make you drowsy?

An uncommon side effect of Delpomont Suspension is drowsiness. It can also cause dizziness. Avoid driving or operating heavy machinery until you know how the medicine affects you. Consult your doctor if you experience these side effects.

Q. Can I drink alcohol while taking Delpomont Suspension?

Consumption of alcohol should be restricted while taking Delpomont Suspension as it may cause dizziness and drowsiness as a side effect. Also, liver disorders caused as side effect of Delpomont Suspension may occur more commonly with use of alcohol.

Yes, in rare cases Delpomont Suspension may cause night mares, sleeplessness, and sleep walking. You should contact your doctor if these symptoms persist.

Q. How should Delpomont Suspension be taken?

Delpomont Suspension should be taken exactly as directed by your doctor. The medicine should be used preferably in the evening with or without food when being used for asthma. Whereas, for allergic rhinitis, it can be taken at any time of the day but at the same time each day. But, if you are taking it to avoid breathing difficulties during exercise, it should be taken 2 hours before exercise.

Q. How should Delpomont Suspension granules be given to children?

It can be directly given in the mouth or dissolve in 1 teaspoonful of cold or room temperature baby formula or breast milk. It can also be used with 1 spoonful of mashed carrots, applesauce, rice, or ice-cream. Remember to give the mixture within 15 minutes of making it.
