How to use D-Veniz Tablet ER

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. D-Veniz 50 Tablet ER may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.

How D-Veniz Tablet ER works

D-Veniz 50 Tablet ER works by increasing the levels of chemical messengers (serotonin and noradrenaline), natural substances in the brain that help maintain mental balance.

D-Veniz 50 Tablet ER may cause excessive drowsiness and calmness with alcohol.
Pregnancy

What if you miss a dose of D-Veniz Tablet ER?

If you miss a dose of D-Veniz 50 Tablet ER, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

Treatment Resistant Depression is diagnosed when a patient of clinical depression has taken at least three types of antidepressants in maximum dose for sufficient duration. Psychiatric evaluation is based on history, clinical symptoms, personality factors, ongoing psychosocial stressors and frequency and severity of symptoms. It requires direct interaction with the patient on a regular basis. Once diagnosed, a management plan is formed based on intensity and frequency of symptoms and associated biological and psycho social factors. Based on your clinical history, your doctor plans the type of medicine and it's dose and duration. For TRD, various augmenting agents and ECTs can be recommended.

No. D-Veniz is not a narcotic drug. Narcotics are drugs with sleep inducing properties, usual derivatives of Opium like Heroin and Morphine.

D-Veniz is an active metabolite of venlafaxine. It is the same medication in an active form.

D-Veniz is a potent and selective serotonin and norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor (SNRI). D-Veniz is thought to be related to the potentiation of the neurotransmitters in the central nervous system.

Q. When to take D-Veniz?

Take D-Veniz exactly as advised by your doctor. Take D-Veniz at about the same time each day with or without food. Swallow D-Veniz tablets in whole, with fluid. Do not crush, cut, chew, or dissolve the tablets because the tablets may be time-released.

Yes. It can be switched but discontinuation symptoms are common while changing the therapy. So, tapering of the antidepressant may be necessary to minimise discontinuation symptoms. The switch over of the therapy from D-Veniz should be done by the doctor. Do inform your doctor about all your present medications before starting the therapy.

No. Tramadol should be absolutely avoided with D-Veniz. They both cause an increase in the levels of serotonin in the body increasing the chances of potentially life-threatening serotonin syndrome.

Q. Can venlafaxine be switched to D-Veniz abruptly?

No. You should not change or switch over to any other drug. It may lead to various adverse effects called as discontinuation symptoms. Talk to your doctor if you are not comfortable with D-Veniz and it should be tapered slowly and then stopped.

Q. What should I avoid while taking D-Veniz?

You should avoid taking any other antidepressants medications, medicines to treat migraine headaches known as triptans,medicines used to treat mood, anxiety, psychotic, or thought disorders, including tricyclics, lithium, selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs), serotonin-norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors (SNRIs), antipsychotic drugs, or other dopamine antagonists, such as metoclopramide.

Q. How long should I continue taking D-Veniz?

D-Veniz is an antidepressant medication. These medications are to be taken for a long duration of months or year. The exact duration of treatment is decided by the improvement of the symptom.

Q. Will D-Veniz affect my sex drive?

There are few cases reports to suggest that it effect sex drive but not all patients suffer from that.
