Assurans Tablet may be taken on an empty stomach or with a meal, but it should be taken at a fixed time each day. The dose and duration will be decided by your doctor so that you get the right amount to control your symptoms. Follow the advice of your doctor. It is important to take this medicine regularly and for as long as you are advised, even if you feel well. Missing doses may lead to the worsening of your condition.

The most common side effects of this medicine include flushing, headache, muscle pain, diarrhea, pain in limbs, back pain, and blurred vision. If they bother you or if you experience any other side effects, talk to your doctor. They may be able to help you reduce or prevent the side effects.

This medicine can be dangerous to take along with medicines called nitrates (often given for chest pain). Do not take this medicine if you have severe heart or liver problems, if you have recently had a stroke or heart attack, or if you have low blood pressure. Let your doctor know if you suffer from these or any other health problems. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should also consult their doctor before taking it. Avoid drinking alcohol while taking this medicine, as it increases the chances of side effects.

Pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) can cause shortness of breath, tiredness, dizziness, chest pain and swelling in your ankles and legs. It is caused by thickening of walls of the arteries that supply your lungs making it hard for blood to get through. Assurans Tablet relaxes and widens blood vessels in the lungs. This helps reduce the strain on the heart and improves blood flow, leading to lowered blood pressure in the pulmonary arteries. By easing the workload on the heart and enhancing circulation, Assurans Tablet can improve exercise capacity, reduce symptoms like shortness of breath and fatigue, and enhance the overall quality of life for individuals with PAH.

How to use Assurans Tablet

How Assurans Tablet works

Assurans Tablet is a phosphodiesterase (PDE-5) inhibitor. It works by relaxing the blood vessels in your lungs, thereby reducing the high blood pressure in the lungs. This allows your heart to work less to pump blood into your lungs.

Stop taking Assurans Tablet and immediately inform your doctor if you notice a loss of vision in one or both eyes or sudden loss of hearing with a ringing sensation in your ear.
Do not stop taking the medication suddenly without talking to your doctor, as that may lead to a worsening of your symptoms.

Assurans Tablet should be used with caution in patients with severe kidney disease. Dose adjustment may be needed.
However, inform your doctor if you have any underlying kidney disease. A lowering of dose may be considered if it is not well-tolerated.

Liver

Assurans Tablet should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Dose adjustment may be needed.

Interaction with drugs

Taking Assurans with any of the following medicines can modify the effect of either of them and cause some undesirable side effects

Life-threatening

Ranolazine (Oral Route)

Do not consume Ranolazine with Sildenafil.

Life-threatening

Chlorpromazine (Oral Route)

Do not consume Chlorpromazine with Sildenafil. Concomitant use may affect heart rhythm and can be fatal.

Life-threatening

Amiodarone (Oral Route)

Do not consume Amiodarone with Sildenafil.

Escitalopram Oxalate (Oral Route)

Do not consume Escitalopram Oxalate with Sildenafil.

Life-threatening

Pimozide (Oral Route)

Do not consume Pimozide with Sildenafil.

Why does Assurans Tablet cause a fall in blood pressure (hypotension)?

Assurans Tablet has the property of relaxing the smooth muscle of the blood vessels and widening them, which can cause a fall in blood pressure (hypotension). So, when used with blood pressure-lowering medicines or nitrates, it can cause a severe fall in blood pressure, which could be fatal. Assurans Tablet should not be taken if you are taking nitrates for chest pain or you have a history of heart attack or stroke in the past 6 months.

Is Assurans Tablet safe to use in patients with diabetes?

Yes, if prescribed by your doctor, then Assurans Tablet is safe to use in patients with diabetes.
