Amsha 25 Tablet is normally taken before bedtime because it can make you sleepy. It can be taken with or without food. The dose and how often you need to take it will be decided by your doctor so that you get the right amount to control your symptoms.

How long you need to use it will depend on what you are taking it for, but it is important to continue taking this medication even if you feel well. Do not stop taking the medicine suddenly without talking to your doctor. Stopping the medicine suddenly can worsen your condition or cause other symptoms. Your dose may be modified or gradually decreased before stopping the medication.

The most common side effects of this medicine include constipation, dry mouth, sleepiness, dizziness, and headache. It may also make you aggressive or confused, and can cause weight gain in some people.

Amsha 25 Tablet should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Dose adjustment may be needed.
Use of Amsha 25 Tablet is not recommended in patients with severe liver disease.

Interaction with drugs

Taking Amsha with any of the following medicines can modify the effect of either of them and cause some undesirable side effects

Life-threatening

Moclobemide (Oral Route)

Do not consume Moclobemide with Amitriptyline. If Moclobemide is essential, ensure a gap of at least 1 day after discontinuing Amitriptyline. Please consult your doctor.

Life-threatening

Domperidone (Oral Route)

Do not consume Domperidone with Amitriptyline.

Life-threatening

Tranylcypromine (Oral Route)

Do not consume Tranylcypromine with Amitriptyline. If Tranylcypromine is essential, ensure a gap of at least 2 weeks after discontinuing Amitriptyline. Please consult your doctor.

Severe

Tramadol (Injection Route)

Careful consideration is advised if you have epilepsy. Watch out for symptoms of serotonin syndrome, such as sedation, respiratory impairment, tremors, fever, diarrhea, or agitation, and consult your doctor if you experience them. Your doctor may alter or discontinue the medicines accordingly.

Severe

Thioridazine (Oral Route)

If concurrent use is essential, watch out for symptoms such as sleepiness, dry mouth, impaired voluntary movements, weight gain, constipation, muscle stiffness or tremors and consult your doctor if you experience them. Factors such as old age, chronic heart issues, or low potassium levels may more frequently cause disturbance in heart rhythm, and your doctor may consider ECG monitoring in their presence.

Generally, Amsha 25 Tablet takes about 2 weeks to show its effect, but it may take longer. Therefore, when you start taking Amsha 25 Tablet, you may have thoughts about killing or harming yourself. This is more common in people who previously had suicidal tendencies or are young adults (less than 25 years old). However, the effect of medicine is different for every individual.

Does Amsha 25 Tablet cause any effect on pregnancy or the newborn?

Do not take Amsha 25 Tablet during pregnancy unless recommended by the doctor.
