Avocados Found To Be Beneficial In Lowering Risk For Metabolic Syndrome

With several benefits to its name, avocados truly deserve to be on the list of “Super Foods”, researchers suggest!

-A recent review of the scientific literature, conducted in Iran, suggested that consumption of avocados can help to keep away metabolic syndromes. Here metabolic syndrome included risk for diseases such as heart problems, increased triglycerides, high blood pressure and diabetes.

-Experts evaluated data from 129 previously published research articles that studied effects of avocado consumption on different metabolic syndromes.

-Most commonly people consumed the fleshy part of the avocado, whereas some also consumed avocado leaves, peels, oil, and pits.

-Avocados were found to have beneficial effects on cholesterol levels and measurement levels of  LDL (bad) cholesterol, HDL (good) cholesterol, triglycerides, total cholesterol, and phospholipids.

-Satiating as a food, it was also observed that people who consumed avocados had smaller waists and weighed much less.

-Additionally, the food has demonstrated several properties such as antihypertensive, antidiabetic, antithrombotic, antiatherosclerotic, and has cardioprotective effects as well.

-Findings were published in the journal Phytotherapy Research
