Valsure Tablet is used to treat cytomegalovirus (CMV) infection of the retina (retinitis) in adult patients with acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS). It is also used for the prevention of CMV infection in patients who have received an organ transplant from a CMV-infected donor.

Product introduction

Valsure Tablet should be taken in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Do not skip any doses and finish the full course of treatment even if you feel better. It should be taken with food. You should drink plenty of water while on treatment with this medicine, as it helps prevent dehydration and kidney damage.


Valsure Tablet may cause a few common side effects like diarrhea, vomiting, anemia, low white blood cells, low platelet levels, insomnia, and vomiting. Inform your doctor if these side effects persist for a longer duration.


Before you start Valsure Tablet, let your doctor know if you have any medical conditions. Let your doctor also know about all the medications you are taking, as some medicines may interact with Valsure Tablet. Please consult your doctor if you are pregnant, planning to conceive, or breastfeeding.

Treatment of Cytomegalovirus Infection
Cytomegalovirus infection is a common virus infection which may have no symptoms at all or may have symptoms like fever and fatigue. Severe infection may show symptoms involving the eyes, brain, or other internal organs. This virus is spread through sexual and nonsexual contact with body secretions in people who are immunocompromised or those who have undergone any transplant. Valsure Tablet helps to prevent multiplication of the infection causing virus and treats the infection. Keep taking it in the dose and duration prescribed by the doctor to get maximum benefit.

Most side effects do not require any medical attention and disappear as your body adjusts to the medicine. Consult your doctor if they persist or if you’re worried about them

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Valsure Tablet should be taken with or after food.

How Valsure Tablet works

Valsure Tablet is an antiviral medication. It prevents the multiplication of viruses in human cells. This stops the virus from producing new viruses and clears up your infection.

Quick tips

  • Take Valsure Tablet exactly as prescribed by your doctor to effectively control CMV retinitis and prevent the worsening of the infection.
  • Regular blood tests may be required to monitor your blood cell counts, as Valsure Tablet can cause low white blood cells (leukopenia) and low platelets (thrombocytopenia).
  • Inform your doctor if you experience unusual bleeding, persistent fever, vision changes, or severe fatigue, as these may indicate serious side effects.
  • Use effective contraception during treatment and for at least 90 days after stopping the medication, as Valsure Tablet may cause birth defects.

Interaction with drugs

Taking Valsure with any of the following medicines can modify the effect of either of them and cause some undesirable side effects

Tacrolimus (Oral Route)

If concurrent use is essential, your doctor may monitor your tacrolimus levels, potassium levels and kidney function closely. They may adjust the doses as per the observations.
Severe

Tenofovir disoproxil fumarate (Oral Route)

Concurrent use may increase the risk of kidney damage.
Moderate

Co-trimoxazole (Oral Route)

Do not consume Valganciclovir with Co-trimoxazole. If concurrent use is essential, your doctor may monitor your blood cell count frequently and adjust the doses as per the observations.
Moderate

Dapsone (Oral Route)

Do not consume Valganciclovir with Dapsone. If concurrent use is essential, your doctor may monitor your treatment and adjust the doses as per the observations. Dapsone may raise blood levels of Valganciclovir.

Doxorubicin (Liposomal) (Injection Route)

Do not consume Valganciclovir with Doxorubicin (Liposomal). If concurrent use is essential, your doctor may monitor your treatment and adjust the doses as per the observations. Doxorubicin (Liposomal) may raise blood levels of Valganciclovir.
