Unisox 10mg Tablet

Prescription Required

Overview

Introduction

Unisox 10mg Tablet is vasodilators and uterine relaxants. It is used in the treatment of premature labor (when the uterus starts contracting for birth too early than usual). It works on the muscles of the uterus and helps in relieving the contractions.

Unisox 10mg Tablet can be taken with or without food, but take it at the same time to get the most benefit. It should be taken as your doctor's advice. The dose and how often you take it depends on what you are taking it for. Your doctor will decide how much you need to improve your symptoms. Swallow the tablets whole with a drink of water. You should take this medicine for as long as it is prescribed for you.

The most common side effects of this medicine include chest pain or discomfort, fast or irregular heartbeat, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and loss of appetite.  If these bother you or appear serious, let your doctor know. There may be ways of reducing or preventing them.

Before taking the medicine, tell your doctor if you have ever had diabetes, blood pressure, or thyroid. Your doctor should also know about all other medicines you are taking as many of these may make this medicine less effective or change the way it works. Tell your doctor if you are breastfeeding or if you experience contraction and water break. Your doctor may perform blood pressure and heart rate check-ups while taking this medicine.

How to cope with side effects?

The occurrence of side effects varies from person to person. The following are a few ways of dealing with some of the common side effects. However, consult your doctor if these persist.

  • Coping with Breathlessness
Control your breaths by breathing in slowly through your nose and breathing out through your mouth. Sitting on a chair and leaning your chest slightly forward may also help. Increase the flow of air around you by opening windows or using a fan. Try to learn breathing techniques and do regular physical exercise. Wearing loose clothing around your waist and chest may also be helpful. Your breathing will usually return to normal within a few weeks of starting the medicine. Tell your doctor if your symptoms do not improve or get worse. Shortness of breath can also be a sign of an ongoing or worsening heart problem.
  • Coping with Increased glucose level in blood
You may only know this after having a blood test. High levels of sugar in your blood can cause diabetes and lead to serious complications. You can help yourself by sticking to a healthy diet, taking regular exercise, and drinking plenty of sugar-free fluids. Avoid foods which cause your blood sugar to rise quickly (such as cakes, pastries and biscuits) and limit the amount of alcohol you drink. If it does not improve, there may be some medicines that can help to lower your blood sugar level. Your doctor may monitor your blood sugar level regularly while you are taking this medicine and guide you accordingly.
  • Coping with Increased heart rate
Breathe in slowly through your nostrils and then breathe out through your mouth. Repeat this until you feel calm. Try sitting cross-legged and drink plenty of water. Splash cold water or apply a cold towel or ice pack on your face for 20-30 seconds. It is important to make sure that you are not taking more than the prescribed dose. As a preventive measure, you should limit the amount of alcohol you drink and give up smoking. Also, cut down the amount of coffee, tea or cola you drink. In general, being physically active and eating a healthy well-balanced diet is good advice for any heart condition. If the condition does not improve, consult your doctor as they may need to change you to a different type of medicine.
  • Coping with Palpitations
If this happens regularly after you take your medicine, try to take the medicine at a time when you can sit or lie down when the symptoms are worse. It may help to cut down on alcohol, smoking, caffeine and big meals as these might make the problem worse. If you are still having problems after a week, speak to your doctor as you may be offered a different type of medicine.
  • Coping with Tremor
These symptoms can be a sign that the dose is too high for you. It may help to change your dose or take your medicine at a different time of the day. There are also exercises that can improve muscle strength, control and coordination. In terms of lifestyle, avoid caffeine (in coffee, tea and chocolate), alcohol, and ask your doctor about other techniques to help you relax and manage stress. Talk to your doctor if this bothers you. Your doctor may be able to prescribe you medicines that can help.
