Telma 20 Tablet is used in the treatment of high blood pressure.

How to use Telma Tablet

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Telma 20 Tablet may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.

How Telma Tablet works

Telma 20 Tablet is an angiotensin receptor blocker (ARB) and PPARγ-agonist. It relaxes blood vessels by blocking the action of a chemical that usually makes blood vessels tighter. This lowers the blood pressure, allowing the blood to flow more smoothly to different organs and the heart to pump more efficiently.

Alcohol
CAUTION
It is unsafe to consume alcohol with Telma 20 Tablet. Taking Telmisartan with alcohol may excessively lower the blood pressure.
Pregnancy
WEIGH RISKS VS BENEFITS
Telma 20 Tablet is unsafe to use during pregnancy.
There is positive evidence of human fetal risk, but the benefits from use in pregnant women may be acceptable despite the risk, for example in life-threatening situations. Please consult your doctor.
Lactation
Telma 20 Tablet is probably safe to use during lactation. Limited human data suggests that the drug does not represent a significant risk to the baby.
Driving
Telma 20 Tablet may make you feel dizzy, sleepy, tired, or decrease alertness. If this happens, do not drive.
Kidney
SAFE
Telma 20 Tablet is safe to use in patients with kidney disease. No dose adjustment of Telma 20 Tablet is recommended.
However, inform your doctor if you have an underlying kidney disease. Regular monitoring of blood pressure, creatinine, and potassium levels may be advised while you are taking this medicine.
Liver
CAUTION
Telma 20 Tablet should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Dose adjustment of Telma 20 Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor.
Use of Telma 20 Tablet is not recommended in patients with severe liver disease.

What if you miss a dose of Telma Tablet?

If you miss a dose of Telma 20 Tablet, skip it and continue with your normal schedule. Do not double the dose.

  • Lowering blood pressure reduces the chance of future heart attack & stroke.
  • It may also be used to treat chronic (long-standing) heart failure.
  • It protects kidney function which is especially useful for people with diabetes or mild-to-moderate kidney diseases.
  • It can make you feel dizzy for the first few days. Take it preferably at bedtime and rise slowly if you have been sitting or lying down.
  • It may increase the level of potassium in blood. Avoid taking potassium supplements and potassium-rich foods such as banana and broccoli.
  • Do not take it during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Tell your doctor if you conceive while taking Telma 20 Tablet.
