Product introduction

Rotomox 400mg Capsule is an antibiotic, used in the treatment of bacterial infections. It is also used in treating infections of the urinary tract, nose, throat, skin and soft tissues and lungs (pneumonia). It cures the infection by stopping the further growth of the causative microorganisms.

Rotomox 400mg Capsule should be used in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. It may be taken with or without food, preferably at a fixed time. Do not skip any doses and finish the full course of treatment even if you feel better. You should not take a double dose to make up for a missed dose. Simply take the next dose as planned.


You may have experience headache, dizziness, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, and increase in transaminases as side effects of this medicine. These are usually temporary and resolves on its own. However, consult your doctor if they bother you or persist for a longer duration. Diarrhea may also occur as a side effect but should stop when your course is complete. Inform your doctor if it does not stop or if you find blood in your stools.


You should not take this medicine if you are allergic to any of its ingredients. Special care should be taken in people with kidney problems while taking this medicine.

It usually makes you feel better quite quickly. You must continue the treatment as prescribed even when you feel better, to make sure that all bacteria are killed and do not become resistant.

How to use Rotomox Capsule

How Rotomox Capsule works

Rotomox 400mg Capsule is an antibiotic. It works by stopping the action of a bacterial enzyme called DNA-gyrase. This prevents the bacterial cells from dividing and repairing, thereby killing them.

Kidney
SAFE IF PRESCRIBED
Rotomox 400mg Capsule is safe to use in patients with kidney disease. No dose adjustment of Rotomox 400mg Capsule is recommended.
However, inform your doctor if you have any underlying kidney disease.
Liver
CAUTION
Rotomox 400mg Capsule should be used with caution in patients with severe liver disease. Dose adjustment of Rotomox 400mg Capsule may be needed. Please consult your doctor.

What if you forget to take Rotomox Capsule?

If you miss a dose of Rotomox 400mg Capsule, use it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

Quick tips

  • You have been prescribed Rotomox 400mg Capsule for the treatment of bacterial infections of the eye.
  • Do not skip any doses and finish the full course of treatment even if you feel better.
  • Apply pressure on the corner of the eye (close to the nose) for about 1 minute, immediately after instilling the medication.
  • Do not touch the tip to any surface, or to your eye, to avoid contamination.
  • Wait for at least 5-10 minutes before delivering the next medication in the same eye to avoid dilution.
  • It may cause short-term blurring of vision when first used. Use caution before driving or using machines.
  • Do not wear contact lenses until your infection clears up.
  • Make sure to use it within 4 weeks of opening the medication.

Interaction with drugs

Taking Rotomox with any of the following medicines can modify the effect of either of them and cause some undesirable side effects
Concomitant use may affect heart rhythm and may be fatal. Do not consume Escitalopram Oxalate with Moxifloxacin.
Concomitant use may affect heart rhythm and may be fatal. Do not consume Haloperidol with Moxifloxacin.
Concomitant use may affect heart rhythm and may be fatal. Do not consume Amiodarone with Moxifloxacin.
Both Aripiprazole and Moxifloxacin can affect heart rhythm and if taken together this may be fatal. Do not consume Aripiprazole with Moxifloxacin.
Concomitant use may affect heart rhythm and may be fatal. Do not consume Iloperidone with Moxifloxacin.
