Product introduction

Moxirit 400mg Infusion is an antibiotic, used in the treatment of bacterial infections. It is also used in treating infections of the urinary tract, nose, throat, skin and soft tissues, and lungs (pneumonia). It cures the infection by stopping further growth of the causative microorganisms.

Moxirit 400mg Infusion is given as an injection into a vein (intravenous), in cases where oral administration is not possible, such as in hospitalized or unconscious patients. It is administered by a healthcare professional. Kindly do not self-administer. Avoid skipping any doses and finish the full course of treatment even if you feel better.

Some people may have a headache, dizziness, nausea, and diarrhea as side effects of this medicine. You may also notice some injection site reactions like pain, swelling, or redness. These are usually temporary and resolve on their own, but please consult your doctor if these side effects persist for a longer duration. Diarrhea may occur as a side effect but should stop when your course is complete. Inform your doctor if it does not stop or if you find blood in your stools.

You should not take this medicine if you are allergic to any of its ingredients. Special care should be taken in people with kidney problems while taking this medicine.

However, inform your doctor if you have any underlying kidney disease.
Liver
CAUTION
Moxirit 400mg Infusion should be used with caution in patients with severe liver disease. Dose adjustment of Moxirit 400mg Infusion may be needed. Please consult your doctor.
Limited information is available on the use of Moxirit 400mg Infusion in these patients. No dose adjustment is recommended in patients with mild to moderate liver disease.

Quick tips

  • You have been prescribed Moxirit 400mg Infusion for the treatment of bacterial infections of the eye.
  • Do not skip any doses and finish the full course of treatment even if you feel better.
  • Apply pressure on the corner of the eye (close to the nose) for about 1 minute, immediately after instilling the medication.
  • Do not touch the tip to any surface, or to your eye, to avoid contamination.
  • Wait for at least 5-10 minutes before delivering the next medication in the same eye to avoid dilution.
  • It may cause short-term blurring of vision when first used. Use caution before driving or using machines.
  • Do not wear contact lenses until your infection clears up.
  • Make sure to use it within 4 weeks of opening the medication.

Interaction with drugs

Taking Moxirit with any of the following medicines can modify the effect of either of them and cause some undesirable side effects
Concomitant use may affect heart rhythm and may be fatal. Do not consume Escitalopram Oxalate with Moxifloxacin.
Concomitant use may affect heart rhythm and may be fatal. Do not consume Haloperidol with Moxifloxacin.
Concomitant use may affect heart rhythm and may be fatal. Do not consume Amiodarone with Moxifloxacin.
Both Aripiprazole and Moxifloxacin can affect heart rhythm and if taken together this may be fatal. Do not consume Aripiprazole with Moxifloxacin.
Concomitant use may affect heart rhythm and may be fatal. Do not consume Ondansetron with Moxifloxacin.
