Product introduction

Monocin 100mg Injection medicine may also be given to people who are carriers (people who are infected, yet do not show any signs and symptoms of infection). It is given as a drip (intravenous infusion) or as an injection directly into a vein or a muscle under the supervision of a healthcare professional. It should be used regularly as prescribed by your doctor. Do not skip any doses and finish the full course of treatment even if you feel better. Stopping this injection too early may lead to the infection returning or worsening.

Some people may develop side effects like low blood platelets, headache, dizziness, vomiting, nausea, and fever. These side effects are usually temporary and go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Consult your doctor if these side effects bother you or will not go away.

Before starting treatment with this medicine, you should tell your doctor if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or suffering from any liver, kidney, or heart problems or if you are allergic to any medicine. You may be regularly monitored with blood tests for liver function test while using Monocin 100mg Injection.

Monocin 100mg Injection is used to treat tuberculosis, an infectious disease that mainly affects the lungs but can affect other parts of the body as well. It kills as well as stops the growth of infection-causing bacteria and helps in treating the infection. It is given as an injection by a doctor or nurse and should not be self-administered. Your symptoms may improve before the infection is completely cured. Do not stop taking it without consulting your doctor as doing so may cause the infection to return or worsen. Follow your doctor’s instructions carefully to get maximum benefit.

Monocin 100mg Injection is an antibiotic. It works by inactivating a bacterial enzyme (RNA-polymerase) which is required by bacteria to make essential proteins and to reproduce.

  • Your urine, tears and other secretions may become orange-red in colour. Avoid using contact lenses since they may become discolored.

  • Avoid taking hormone-based birth control methods as Monocin 100mg Injection may decrease their effectiveness.

Interaction with drugs

Taking Monocin with any of the following medicines can modify the effect of either of them and cause some undesirable side effects
Severe

Acalabrutinib (Oral Route)

Do not consume Acalabrutinib with Rifampicin. If concurrent use is essential, your doctor may monitor your treatment and adjust the doses as per the observations. Rifampicin may reduce blood levels of Acalabrutinib.

Darunavir (Oral Route)

Do not consume Darunavir with Rifampicin. Rifampicin may reduce blood levels and efficacy of Darunavir.

Sofosbuvir (Oral Route)

Do not consume Sofosbuvir with Rifampicin. Rifampicin may reduce blood levels and efficacy of Sofosbuvir.

Allylestrenol (Oral Route)

Use other methods of contraception (IUDs, depot or barrier methods) both during and for 28 days following the discontinuation of Rifampicin. Rifampicin may reduce the efficacy of Allylestrenol.

Do not consume Saquinavir with Rifampicin. If concurrent use is essential, please consult your doctor. Rifampicin may reduce blood levels and efficacy of Saquinavir.
