MERSTREP 1GM INJECTION is an antibiotic. It stops bacterial growth by preventing synthesis of essential proteins required by bacteria to carry out vital functions.

Pregnancy

MERSTREP 1GM INJECTION is unsafe to use during pregnancy.
There is positive evidence of human fetal risk, but the benefits from use in pregnant women may be acceptable despite the risk, for example in life-threatening situations. Please consult your doctor.
Lactation
SAFE
MERSTREP 1GM INJECTION is safe to use during lactation. Human studies have shown that either the drug does not pass into the breastmilk in significant amount or is not expected to cause toxicity to the baby.
Driving
Do not drive unless you are feeling well.
Kidney
CAUTION
MERSTREP 1GM INJECTION should be used with caution in patients with kidney disease. Dose adjustment of MERSTREP 1GM INJECTION may be needed. Please consult your doctor.
Liver
MERSTREP 1GM INJECTION is probably safe to use in patients with liver disease. Limited data available suggests that dose adjustment of MERSTREP 1GM INJECTION may not be needed in these patients. Please consult your doctor.

Q. How long does Merstrep takes to work?
Usually, Merstrep starts working soon after taking it. However, it may take some days to kill all the harmful bacteria and make you feel better.

Inform your doctor if you don't feel better after finishing the full course of treatment. Your doctor may increase the dose of Merstrep or switch you to an alternate option, which may work for you. Also, inform him if your symptoms are getting worse while using this medicine.

No, do not stop taking Merstrep and complete the full course of treatment even if you feel better. Your symptoms may improve before the infection is completely cured.
