Uses of Merigat Tablet

Merigat 400 mg Tablet is used in the treatment of bacterial infections. It is also used in infections of urinary tract, tonsils, sinus, nose, throat, female genital organ, skin and soft tissues, windpipe and lungs (pneumonia).

How to use Merigat Tablet

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Merigat 400 mg Tablet may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.

How Merigat Tablet works

Merigat 400 mg Tablet is an antibiotic. It works by stopping the action of a bacterial enzyme called DNA-gyrase. This prevents the bacterial cells from dividing and repairing, thereby killing them.

Pregnancy

Merigat 400 mg Tablet may be unsafe to use during pregnancy.
Animal studies have shown adverse effects on the foetus, however, there are limited human studies. The benefits from use in pregnant women may be acceptable despite the risk. Please consult your doctor.
Lactation
CAUTION
Merigat 400 mg Tablet is probably unsafe to use during lactation. Limited human data suggest that the drug could represent a significant risk to the baby.
Merigat 400 mg Tablet may cause diarrhea or rash in the baby
Driving
Do not drive unless you are feeling well.
The most common side effects that can occur when taking Merigat 400 mg Tablet are usually mild nausea, vomiting, stomach ache, diarrhea, dizziness, and headache.This may affect your ability to drive.
Kidney
CAUTION
Merigat 400 mg Tablet should be used with caution in patients with kidney disease. Dose adjustment of Merigat 400 mg Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor.
Take plenty of water while you are taking this medicine
Liver
There is limited information available on the use of Merigat 400 mg Tablet in patients with liver disease. Please consult your doctor.

What if you miss a dose of Merigat Tablet?

If you miss a dose of Merigat 400 mg Tablet, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

  • Gatifloxacin oral (tablet and suspension) and injection form has been withdrawn from the market, as it has shown incidences of abnormally high or low blood sugars levels in humans. However, its ophthalmic form (eye drop) is  available to treat bacterial infections of eye, which is considered to be safe for use.

u shouldn't take antibiotics without prescription, for simple cold n cough take syp corex-Dx 1 tsf tid, for cold DO STEAM INHALAION TWICE DAILY, WARM SALINE GARGLES, AVOID EXPOSURE TO COLD,TAKE REST tab levocet 1 tab bd for 5 days, take healthy diet to boost ur immunity comprising of proteins, vitamins particularly vit C, take plenty of fluids if not better in 3 days consult physician hope this helps, antibiotics are reserved only for bacterial infections , most cold like illnesses are viral so no need of antibiotics
