Product introduction

Mcet 10mg Tablet can be taken with or without food. The dose depends on your condition and how you respond to treatment. You may take it only on days when symptoms occur, or regularly if advised for prevention. Do not stop taking it earlier than advised, as symptoms may return.

Common side effects include headache, dry mouth, and sleepiness. These are usually mild and improve with time. Consult your doctor if they persist or become bothersome. Avoid alcohol while taking this medicine, as it may increase drowsiness.

Before taking it, inform your doctor if you have kidney or liver problems, or if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or elderly (above 65 years of age).   • Discontinuing the medicine after prolonged use (several months) may lead to a temporary recurrence of itching, which may persist for a few days before settling.
  • If you feel sleepy, you may take your dose in the evening (around 8–9 PM) after speaking with your doctor.
  • If you have kidney disease or reduced kidney function, you may require a lower dose. Consult your doctor before taking this medicine.
  • If you have a history of seizures, use this medicine with caution and consult your doctor before taking it.
  • If hives (urticaria) do not improve within 3 days, consult your doctor.

However, it is not recommended in patients with severe kidney disease. It may cause excessive sleepiness in patients with end-stage kidney disease.

Interaction with drugs

Taking Mcet with any of the following medicines can modify the effect of either of them and cause some undesirable side effects

Mirtazapine (Oral Route)

Do not drive or do anything requiring concentration or alertness until you know how the medicines affect you.

Thalidomide (Oral Route)

If concurrent use is essential, watch out for symptoms of Thalidomide side effects such as drowsiness, excessive sedation, tiredness, dizziness or slurred speech and consult your doctor if you experience them. It is advised to avoid driving or undertaking other tasks requiring skill and alertness.
Moderate

Dalteparin (Injection Route)

Your doctor may frequently monitor your blood clotting time. Cetirizine may reduce the efficacy of Dalteparin.

Tranylcypromine (Oral Route)

Do not take Tranylcypromine with Cetirizine. If concurrent use is essential, talk to your doctor.
Mild

Betahistine (Oral Route)

Take Cetirizine with Betahistine only if prescribed by your doctor. Cetirizine may block the action of Betahistine.
