Lomonox 40mg Injection

Prescription Required

Overview

Introduction

Lomonox 40mg Injection is an anticoagulant used to prevent and treat harmful blood clots. It stops the existing clots from getting any bigger and restricts the formation of any new clot. It is also helpful in the prevention of blood clot in veins, a condition called deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and pulmonary embolism.

Lomonox 40mg Injection is injected under the skin by a doctor or nurse. It should not be injected into a muscle. The dose and length of treatment are based on your medical condition, your response to the medicine, and what you are being treated for. It may also be based on your age and weight. It is important to keep using this medicine even if you do not notice any symptoms because it is preventing future harm. If you stop taking it, you could get a blood clot. While taking this medicine you should avoid doing things that increase your risk of bleeding or injury.

The most common side effect of this medicine is bleeding, or getting bruised easily. It can also cause a skin rash, itchy skin, headache, and a lower number of red blood cells (anemia). A severe headache could be a sign of bleeding in the brain. A severe stomach ache could be a sign of bleeding in the stomach. Bleeding can be dangerous and may not be obvious. Look out for symptoms and tell your doctor if you are worried.

Before using this medicine, you should tell your doctor if you have high blood pressure, diabetes, or have had a recent stroke. You should not take it if you have any current bleeding. Some medicines should not be used with Lomonox 40mg Injection. Tell your doctor what else you are taking to make sure it is safe. If you have low body weight, you may be at increased risk of bleeding, and drinking alcohol can increase the risk of stomach bleeding. Consult your doctor about using this medicine if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

Uses of Lomonox Injection

Side effects of Lomonox Injection

Most side effects do not require any medical attention and disappear as your body adjusts to the medicine. Consult your doctor if they persist or if you’re worried about them

Common side effects of Lomonox

  • Anemia (low number of red blood cells)
  • Headache
  • Itching

How to cope with side effects?

The occurrence of side effects varies from person to person. The following are a few ways of dealing with some of the common side effects. However, consult your doctor if these persist.

  • Coping with Anemia (low number of red blood cells)
Making some simple lifestyle changes can raise your red blood cell count. Reduce the amount of alcohol you drink, eat a well-balanced healthy diet and take regular exercise. Physical activities make your body need more oxygen and this stimulates the production of red blood cells. There are some vitamins which are important such as vitamin B-12, vitamin B-9, vitamin C and Vitamin A. Also, some minerals such as iron (especially) and copper. Aim for foods which contain higher quantities of these vitamins and minerals or ask your doctor for supplements. Make sure to consult your doctor for complete evaluation and treatment of anemia.
  • Coping with Headache
Make sure you rest and drink plenty of fluids. Rest in a quiet, dimly lit room. Do not sleep more than you normally would. Do not strain your eyes (for example by looking at a screen). Do not drink alcohol. Headaches are usually temporary and usually go away with time. But, if they last longer or get worse, ask your doctor to recommend a painkiller.
