Product introduction

This medicine is taken by mouth with or without food. You should take it in a proper dose and duration as advised by the doctor. Remember, dosage is decided on the basis of the type of medicine (syrup or lozenge), age and the present medical condition of the person. It is important to finish the full course of treatment even if you feel better. In case you have missed a dose, take it as soon as you remember it. It is beneficial to have plenty of fluids while taking this medication. 


Junirest Syrup may cause dizziness as a side effect, so do not drive or do anything that requires mental focus. Rashes and diarrhea may also occur in many individuals.


It is important to note that you should never support self medication or recommend your medicine to another person. Keep out of reach of children, as an overdose of this medicine can be dangerous.

  • It is usually taken for a short time, until the symptoms clear up.
  • Allow the lozenge or disintegrating strip to dissolve in your mouth. Do not chew or swallow.
  • Measure the syrup with a special dose-measuring spoon or cup, not a regular table spoon. 
  • Drink extra fluids to help loosen the congestion and lubricate your throat while you are taking this medication.
  • It should not be administered to patients with chronic cough or where cough is accompanied by excessive secretions.
  • Inform your doctor if your cough lasts more than 7 days, comes back, or occurs with fever, rash or headache. These could be signs of a serious condition.

Interaction with drugs

Taking Junirest with any of the following medicines can modify the effect of either of them and cause some undesirable side effects
Life-threatening

Moclobemide (Oral Route)

Do not consume Moclobemide with Dextromethorphan Hydrobromide. Moclobemide may decrease the metabolism of Dextromethorphan Hydrobromide.
Life-threatening

Tranylcypromine (Oral Route)

Do not consume Tranylcypromine with Dextromethorphan Hydrobromide. If Tranylcypromine is essential, ensure a gap of at least 2 weeks after discontinuing Dextromethorphan Hydrobromide. Please consult your doctor.
Severe

Ziprasidone (Oral Route)

Watch out for symptoms such as tremors, fever, diarrhea or agitation and consult your doctor if you experience them. Your doctor may discontinue the medicines accordingly.

Desvenlafaxine (Oral Route)

Watch out for symptoms such as tremors, fever, dizziness, lightheadedness, drowsiness, nervousness, restlessness, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea or agitation and consult your doctor if you experience them. Your doctor may discontinue the medicines accordingly. Desvenlafaxine may raise blood levels of Dextromethorphan Hydrobromide.
Severe

Vortioxetine (Oral Route)

Watch out for symptoms such as tremors, fever, diarrhea or agitation and consult your doctor if you experience them. Your doctor may discontinue the medicines accordingly.

Frequently asked questions

Dextromethorphan is a decongestant and not a steroid, antihistamine, opiate, NSAID or narcotic, but can have addictive effects if taken at large doses than recommended. It does not contain codeine or alcohol. It is not a controlled substance
Dextromethorphan works for most of the patient. It should be taken in amounts exactly as directed on the label, or as prescribed by your doctor. Cough medicine is usually taken only for a short time until your symptoms clear up. Do not use the medication in larger amounts, or use it for longer than recommended
