Ibdine 5 Tablet


Introduction of Ibdine Tablet

Ibdine 5 Tablet is a medicine used for treatment of angina (heart-related chest pain) and chronic (long-term) heart failure. It makes the heart work more efficiently by lowering the heart rate. This relieves chest pain and decreases risk of hospitalization in heart failure patients.

Ibdine 5 Tablet must be taken with food. It may cause bradycardia (low heart rate) as a side effect. Hence, the heart rate should be monitored while using this medicine.

How to use Ibdine Tablet

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Ibdine 5 Tablet is to be taken with food.

How Ibdine Tablet works

Ibdine 5 Tablet is a heart rate lowering medication. It works by reducing the heart rate which lowers the oxygen requirement of the heart. As a result, heart works more efficiently.

It is not known whether it is safe to consume alcohol with Ibdine 5 Tablet. Please consult your doctor.
Ibdine 5 Tablet is unsafe to use during pregnancy as there is definite evidence of risk to the developing baby. However, the doctor may rarely prescribe it in some life-threatening situations if the benefits are more than the potential risks. Please consult your doctor.

Ibdine 5 Tablet may cause side effects which could affect your ability to drive.

  • You may experience temporary changes in your vision such as enhanced visual brightness. These changes may occur within the initial 2 months of treatment and should gradually go away.
  • Monitor your blood pressure when taking Ibdine 5 Tablet as it can increase your blood pressure.
  • Monitor your heart rate when taking this medicine as low heart rate is a common side effect. Inform your doctor if you experience symptoms of low heart rate such as dizziness, tiredness, and low energy.

It contains Ivabradine is a used to treat symptomatic stable angina pectoris (chest pain), chronic heart failure. It can be used in combination with standard therapy, including beta-blocker therapy or when beta-blockers are contraindicated or not tolerated.

Q. What type of drug is Ibdine?

Ibdine is a heart medicine which belongs to a class of medicine known as hyperpolarization-activated cyclic nucleotide-gated (HCN) channel blockers. It works by slowing the heart rate. This helps the heart to pump more blood through the body each time it beats.

Q. Does Ibdine affect vision?

Ibdine may cause temporary brightness in the field of vision (luminous visual phenomena). This usually disappears with continuous use of Ibdine. If this happens to you, be careful when driving or using machines at times when there could be sudden changes in light intensity, especially when driving at night.

Q. How should I store Ibdine?

Store Ibdine at room temperature between 68°F to 77°F (20°C to 25°C). Protect them from light by keeping the Ibdine ampules in the unopened foil pouch until ready to use.

Q. What are the symptoms of overdosage of Ibdine?

The symptoms of overdosage of Ibdine include slow heartbeat, dizziness, excessive tiredness and lack of energy. Consult your doctor immediately or seek emergency medical attention if you experience any of these.

Q. What is the most important information that I should know about Ibdine?

You should remember that Ibdine may cause serious side effects in adults and children. Its use in pregnant women can harm the unborn baby. Some of the other serious side effects may include increased risk of irregular or rapid heartbeat (atrial fibrillation or heart rhythm problems) and slower than normal heart rate (bradycardia).

Q. Does Ibdine lower blood pressure?

No, Ibdine commonly causes an increase in blood pressure as a side effect. This change is temporary and does not affect the treatment effect of Ibdine. However, it should not be given to patients with severely low blood pressure (blood pressure < 90/50 mmHg).

Q. Is Ibdine a beta-blocker?

No, Ibdine is not a beta-blocker. It lowers the heart rate by selectively blocking the channel (f-channel) present in heart pacemaker cells responsible for the increase in the heart rate.
