Introduction of Foxa Tablet

Foxa 100 mg Tablet is a prescription medicine used in the treatment of depression and obsessive-compulsive disorder. This medicine helps by increasing the levels of serotonin, a chemical messenger in the brain and it helps to improve mood and physical symptoms of the disease.

Foxa 100 mg Tablet is taken at night with or without food. It is advisable to take it at the same time each day to maintain consistent level of medicine in the blood. If you have missed a dose, take it as soon as you remember it. Do not skip any doses and finish the full course of treatment even if you feel better. It is important that this medication is not stopped suddenly without talking to doctor as this may result in harmful effects.

Some common side effects of this medicine includes low sexual desire, nausea, headache, delayed ejaculation and insomnia (difficulty in sleeping). Initially, this medicine may cause sudden drop in the blood pressure when you change positions, rise slowly if you have been sitting or lying down. It may even cause dizziness and sleepiness, do not drive or do anything that requires mental focus until you know how this medicine affects you. This medicine may cause weight gain, have a balanced diet and exercise regularly to manage it. It is important to inform doctor if you develop any unusual changes in mood as it may lead to suicidal thoughts.

How to use Foxa Tablet

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Foxa 100 mg Tablet may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.

How Foxa Tablet works

Foxa 100 mg Tablet is a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) antidepressant. It works by increasing the levels of serotonin, a chemical messenger in the brain. This improves mood and physical symptoms in depression and relieves symptoms of panic and obsessive disorders.

What if you miss a dose of Foxa Tablet?

If you miss a dose of Foxa 100 mg Tablet, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

Q. Is Foxa used for anxiety?

Yes, Foxa is used to treat social anxiety disorder. It is anxiety related to interacting with others or performing in front of others that interferes with normal life. Foxa is also used for treatment of obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) and panic attacks. In OCD, a person experiences bothersome thoughts that do not go away and the irresistible desire to perform certain actions over and over.

Q. Can Foxa get you high?

There is no evidence that Foxa causes dependence. But, it is possible that patients may experience withdrawal symptoms on sudden discontinuation of Foxa. Usually, the withdrawal symptoms are mild and go away on their own within 2 weeks.

Q. Who should not take Foxa?

You should not take Foxa if you are allergic to it, if you are taking another medicine to treat depression called a Monoamine Oxidase Inhibitor (MAOI), or if you have stopped taking an MAOI within the last 14 days. This is because taking both these medicines close in time together may cause serious and sometimes fatal reactions like high body temperature, convulsions, and even coma.

Q. Does Foxa make you sleepy?

Yes, a common side effect of Foxa is sleepiness. It may also affect your ability to think clearly, make decisions, or react quickly. Avoid driving or operating heavy machinery until and unless you know how Foxa affects you.

Q. Does Foxa have any serious health risks associated with it?

Yes, the use of Foxa may cause serious health risks. These may include increased risks of suicidal thoughts and actions, mania, bleeding problems, convulsions, visual problems, and low sodium levels in the blood.

Q. How quickly does Foxa work?

It takes long for Foxa to start working. However, you may see an improvement in sleep, appetite, and energy levels within 1-2 weeks of starting Foxa. While, conditions like depressed mood and lack of interest in activities may take about 6-8 weeks to improve.

Q. Can I stop Foxa if I am better now?

Consult your doctor who will gradually reduce the dose before stopping it completely. This is done because sudden discontinuation of Foxa may cause withdrawal symptoms. These symptoms include anxiety, irritability, high or low mood, feeling restless or changes in sleep habits, headache, sweating, nausea, dizziness, electric shock-like sensations, shaking, and confusion.

Q. Does Foxa cause weight gain?

Foxa may either cause weight gain or weight loss. The weight loss could be due to loss of appetite. However, the frequency of weight gain or loss is not known. As compared to other anti-depressants, there is no significant change in body weight with Foxa in majority of people.
