Introduction

Fluvox 50mg Tablet is belongs to a class of medicine known as selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRI). It is used in the treatment of depression and obsessive-compulsive disorder. It helps to improve mood and physical symptoms of the disease.

Fluvox 50mg Tablet should be taken in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor but take it at the same time each day to get the most benefit. The dose and how often you need it will be decided by your doctor so that you get the right amount to control your symptoms. It may be increased gradually. If you have trouble sleeping it may be best to take this medicine in the morning. It may take a few weeks before you start to feel better. Do not change the dose or stop taking it without talking to your doctor, even if you feel well. Your condition may get worse or you may suffer unpleasant withdrawal symptoms. Let your doctor know if you do not see any improvement after four weeks.

The most common side effects of this medicine include low sexual desire, sleepiness, ejaculation disorder and nausea. Some people gain weight while being treated with it. Keep taking the medicine but talk to a doctor if these side effects bother you. There may be ways of preventing or reducing them. You should avoid driving or operating machinery until you know how this medicine affects you.

Before taking it, you should tell your doctor if you have epilepsy, diabetes, liver or kidney disease, heart problems, glaucoma, drug addiction or bipolar disorder. These may affect your treatment. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should also consult their doctor before taking it. Some other medicines may affect the way it works, especially other antidepressants and medicines called MAO inhibitors. Please tell your doctor about all the medicines you are taking to make sure you are safe.

What if you forget to take Fluvox Tablet?

If you miss a dose of Fluvox 50mg Tablet, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

Q. Is Fluvox used for anxiety?

Yes, Fluvox is used to treat social anxiety disorder. It is anxiety related to interacting with others or performing in front of others that interferes with normal life. Fluvox is also used for treatment of obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) and panic attacks. In OCD, a person experiences bothersome thoughts that do not go away and the irresistible desire to perform certain actions over and over.

Q. Can Fluvox get you high?

There is no evidence that Fluvox causes dependence. But, it is possible that patients may experience withdrawal symptoms on sudden discontinuation of Fluvox. Usually, the withdrawal symptoms are mild and go away on their own within 2 weeks.

Q. Who should not take Fluvox?

You should not take Fluvox if you are allergic to it, if you are taking another medicine to treat depression called a Monoamine Oxidase Inhibitor (MAOI), or if you have stopped taking an MAOI within the last 14 days. This is because taking both these medicines close in time together may cause serious and sometimes fatal reactions like high body temperature, convulsions, and even coma.

Q. Does Fluvox make you sleepy?

Yes, a common side effect of Fluvox is sleepiness. It may also affect your ability to think clearly, make decisions, or react quickly. Avoid driving or operating heavy machinery until and unless you know how Fluvox affects you.

Q. Does Fluvox have any serious health risks associated with it?

Yes, the use of Fluvox may cause serious health risks. These may include increased risks of suicidal thoughts and actions, mania, bleeding problems, convulsions, visual problems, and low sodium levels in the blood.

Q. How quickly does Fluvox work?

It takes long for Fluvox to start working. However, you may see an improvement in sleep, appetite, and energy levels within 1-2 weeks of starting Fluvox. While, conditions like depressed mood and lack of interest in activities may take about 6-8 weeks to improve.

Q. Can I stop Fluvox if I am better now?

Consult your doctor who will gradually reduce the dose before stopping it completely. This is done because sudden discontinuation of Fluvox may cause withdrawal symptoms. These symptoms include anxiety, irritability, high or low mood, feeling restless or changes in sleep habits, headache, sweating, nausea, dizziness, electric shock-like sensations, shaking, and confusion.

Q. Does Fluvox cause weight gain?

Fluvox may either cause weight gain or weight loss. The weight loss could be due to loss of appetite. However, the frequency of weight gain or loss is not known. As compared to other anti-depressants, there is no significant change in body weight with Fluvox in majority of people.
