Introduction

Febrex 125mg/5ml Syrup is a medicine used to relieve pain and to reduce fever. It is used to treat many conditions such as headache, body ache, toothache and common cold.

Febrex 125mg/5ml Syrup may be prescribed alone or in combination with another medicine. You should take it regularly as advised by your doctor. It is usually best taken with food otherwise it may upset your stomach. Do not take more or use it for longer than recommended. Side effects are rare if this medicine is used correctly but this medicine may cause stomach pain, nausea, and vomiting in some people. However, Febrex 125mg/5ml Syrup contains paracetamol which is considered the safest painkiller for kidney disease patients.
Liver

Febrex 125mg/5ml Syrup should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Dose adjustment of Febrex 125mg/5ml Syrup may be needed. Please consult your doctor.
However, the use of Febrex 125mg/5ml Syrup is not recommended in patients with severe liver disease and active liver disease.

What if you forget to take Febrex Syrup?

If you miss a dose of Febrex 125mg/5ml Syrup, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

Q. What if my child vomits after taking Febrex?

If your child vomits in less than 30 minutes after having a dose of Febrex tablets or syrup, give him/her the same dose again. If your child vomits more than 30 minutes after a dose of tablets or syrup, you do not need to give him/her another dose, until the next normal dose.

Q. When will my child feel better after taking Febrex?

Usually your child will feel better after about half an hour of taking Febrex.

Q. How often can I give Febrex to my child?

You should only give four doses of Febrex in 24 hours. There should be a gap of at least 4 hours between two doses. Do not give Febrex for more than 3 days to your child without first talking to your doctor.

Q. Can I give Febrex syrup to my child for cold?

Febrex along with relieving fever also helps in controlling problems associated with cold such as headache and earache associated with cold. It also helps relieve stuffy nose and cough but should only be used after doctor’s advice.

Ibuprofen and Febrex are safe painkillers which can be given to children, though both should not be used together. Instead, if you have given your child Febrex and still he/she is feverish or in pain you could try ibuprofen instead, when the next dose is due.
