How to use Febopax Tablet

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Febopax 40 mg Tablet may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.

How Febopax Tablet works

Febopax 40 mg Tablet is a xanthine oxidase inhibitor. It works by decreasing blood uric acid, which is the chemical that causes gout.

Alcohol
CAUTION
Taking alcohol can increase your uric acid levels and hence aggravate gout.
Pregnancy

Febopax 40 mg Tablet may be unsafe to use during pregnancy.
Animal studies have shown adverse effects on the foetus, however, there are limited human studies. The benefits from use in pregnant women may be acceptable despite the risk. Please consult your doctor.
Lactation
CAUTION
Febopax 40 mg Tablet is probably unsafe to use during lactation. Limited human data suggest that the drug could represent a significant risk to the baby.
Driving
Do not drive unless you are feeling well.
Febopax 40 mg Tablet may cause dizziness, sleepiness, blurred vision, numbness or tingling sensation. This may affect your driving ability.
Kidney
Febopax 40 mg Tablet should be used with caution in patients with severe kidney disease. Dose adjustment of Febopax 40 mg Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor.

Liver

What if you miss a dose of Febopax Tablet?

If you miss a dose of Febopax 40 mg Tablet, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

Hello, I Have been suffering from boils problem for the last 5 years. The breakout is on the face, neck, chest, underarms, buttocks, and genital area. The boils tend to grow bigger combining one or two nearby boils and is extremely painful. The old boils also have left a black scar on the spot where they occurred, and many of the boils reoccur on the same spot. Most on the Buttocks, face, underarms and genital area. I also suffer from Diabetes and Gout, which was diagnosed just few months back. I haven't visited any doctor yet as i thought this was hormonal. Kindly let me know the next course of action or any medications that I need to start. Also please advise on how to get rid of those black scar on the face and other areas. Thank You.

Q. What are the contraindications to the use of Febopax?

Use of Febopax is contraindicated in patients being treated with azathioprine, mercaptopurine, theophylline, and in patients who develop hypersensitivity to the drug.

Q. How long does Febopax take to work?

After oral intake, the maximum effect of Febopax can be seen between 1 to 1.5 hours of consumption. However, it may take a few days to weeks to show its effect and you can experience gout attacks during this time. Continue to take your medicine during this time as with continuous use these attacks would decrease.

Q. Can I take Febopax with antibiotics?

Febopax can generally be taken safely together with antibiotics. However, interactions can occur. Talk to your doctor about the right antibiotic therapy for your condition while you are also taking Febopax.

Q. Can I take Febopax with azathioprine?

Febopax should not be taken with azathioprine. Taking both the medicines together will increase the levels of azathioprine and can cause toxicity.

Q. Is Febopax an over-the-counter product?

No, Febopax is not an over-the counter product. It is a prescription medicine and is available as per the doctor's advice.

Q. Does Febopax cause frequent urination?

No, Febopax is not known to cause frequent urination. However, if you experience any such symptom while using the drug, consult your doctor.
