Uses of Etifem Tablet

Etifem 200mg Tablet is used in the treatment of osteoporosis
This disease mostly occurs in women after menopause, but can sometimes be seen in men. It can also occur in patients receiving steroids.

Musculoskeletal (bone, muscle or joint) pain, Headache, Heartburn, Difficulty in swallowing.


How to use Etifem Tablet

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Etifem 200mg Tablet is to be taken empty stomach.

How Etifem Tablet works

Etifem 200mg Tablet is a bisphosphonate. It acts by suppressing the activity of osteoclasts, cells that cause the destruction of bone, thereby strengthening the bones and minimizing the risk of fractures.

Expert advice for Etifem Tablet

  • Take Etifem in the morning on an empty stomach with water.
  • Do not eat or drink for 30 minutes after taking Etifem.
  • Maintain an upright posture for 30 minutes after taking Etifem.
  • Inform your doctor if you experience pain in jaw, throat, chest, abdomen, hips or thighs.
  • Inform your doctor if you are about to undergo any major dental procedures, as Etifem may need to be discontinued temporarily.

Etifem 200mg Tablet may be unsafe to use during pregnancy.

Animal studies have shown adverse effects on the foetus, however, there are limited human studies. The benefits from use in pregnant women may be acceptable despite the risk. Please consult your doctor.
Etifem 200mg Tablet is probably safe to use during lactation. Limited human data suggests that the drug does not represent a significant risk to the baby.

If you are taking Etifem 200mg Tablet during breastfeeding, monitor baby's blood calcium levels during the first two months.
Etifem 200mg Tablet does not usually affect your ability to drive.
There is limited information available on the use of Etifem 200mg Tablet in patients with kidney disease. Please consult your doctor.

However, regular monitoring of kidney function tests is advised while the patient is taking this medicine. Use of Etifem 200mg Tablet is not recommended in severe kidney disease patients.

Missed Dosageuses
